CATALINA'S POINT OF VIEW

The atmosphere inside of The Bank Of Spain had changed dramatically, and now that Mr. Román was finally gone we had moved onto the next step of the plan which was extraction.

We needed to find a way out of the building without getting killed, but before that could happen we needed to finish melting all the gold. So Nairobi and Bogotá went back down to the basement along with Stockholm to continue diving in the tank whereas the rest of the gang (except Rio) had been put in charge of watching the hostages.

And in saying that I suppose that's how I ended up where I was right now...babysitting Rio...and planning my upcoming suicide attempt to put me out of my current misery.

"You know I never thought I'd say this but I actually miss Berlin." Rio said as I paced up and down the floor of the large bathroom that formally belonged to The Governor. "He always knew what to do in situations like these, and regardless of how fucked up in the head he was he always knew what to say when one of us was ready to give up."

"What? Am I not good enough for you?" I challenged.

"How are you even here right now?" He asked with eyes full of sorrow. "You lost the father of your child the last time you participated in something like this yet you came back. And if I'm being honest I can't even begin to fathom why you did."

"It wasn't for you." I said quickly.

"I never assumed it was." He said with a chuckle.

"I did it for Andrés." I revealed with a small shrug. "And I did it for Sergio, but I won't ever admit that to him."

"Denver and Nairobi attempted to update me on everything that's happened since my kidnapping." Rio said.

"Oh did they?" I quizzed sarcastically. "That was very nice of them."

"They told me that you don't talk to The Professor anymore. Is that true?"

"Yes." I deadpanned.

"Why?" He asked incredulously. "I mean he was Berlin's brother."

"Did you know that The Professor was dating Inspectora Murillo? Or that he was playing daddy to her child?" I snapped.

"Yes...I...uh...I knew...Denver...he told me..." He stuttered.

"Well then that's your reason why." I said emphatically as I turned my back in order to walk out of the room.

"Wait!" Rio shouted as I stilled my movements.

"What?" I asked as I rolled my eyes.

"Can you tell me about Berlin?" Rio asked barley above a whisper.

"You worked with him for five months. Why are you asking me about him when you already knew him?" I questioned.

"I knew Berlin. Or more specifically I knew the leader and the killer." He said softly. "But I never got the chance to meet Andrés."

I stared at him darkly yet he didn't flinch nor did he back down from his request.

"Okay." I said as I sighed deeply and I sat down next to him.

"He was a real son of a bitch." I started off as Rio let out a loud chuckle. "But he loved hard and all he wanted was to ride out the thrill of life."

"What else?" Rio asked. "I mean like...besides himself and you...who did he care about?"

"He loved The Professor very much." I informed the younger man.

"His dream was to rob this bank." I said as I gestured to the walls around us. "To melt the gold as his last "fuck you" to the system. But Sergio needed to do the heist in the mint...it was for his father...as a way to pay tribute to him."
