Mellissa

I rolled off my comfortable yet cozy bed. Looking at my blinds, the sun was fighting it's way inside the room.

I soon remembered I had school and the bus to catch up in twenty freaking minutes.

I found my way inside the washroom to have a clean up. Brushing through my auburn, I smiled at myself in the mirror at how pretty I looked.

I placed a small amount of lipstick on my lips and some mascara.

I had a black crop top on with  sky blue skinny jeans, and black vans to match.

I quickly placed the jacket on my shoulders as I grabbed my bag.

"Morning mom!" I said pecking her cheek.

"Hi sweetie." She said, removing the waffle out the waffle maker, placing it onto the plate.

"Hey dad. Sap Greg!"  I say as I pick up an apple from the fruit bowl.

"Honey aren't you having breakfast?" Mom says, giving me a confused look.

"Works for me." I hear Greg say sarcastically as I turn to face him. I give out a serious look.

"Sorry mom I'm late. Bye." I say, quickly walking out the door.

I look down at my phone screen to check the time, seeing it's ten to time, as I rush towards the bus stop.

"Calm down, Lisa." Liz states, slowly tapping my hand in a comforting manner.

"I know... I just can't stop thinking about how I messed up. Wait have you talked to him yet?" I ask frantically, looking straight into Liz's eyes.

"Yup. And he's not mad or anything." I stare at Liz blankly.

"Maybe. Maybe not." I shrug my shoulders.

I grab my phone from my bag, texting Liam.

"Can we please..talk this through." I tap the send button once I'm satisfied with what I've typed.

I shove my phone back into the bag, not knowing how I'm going to get to Liam. I hear a chime in my bag which is  certainly a text message.

"Meet me at the park at 6:00pm." Is the text Liam sent. I'm glad he had to text back. A small smile appears on my face before I stand up from my seat, heading to the lockers.

"Can I please..come?" Liz mentions, giving out puppy eyes.

"I would like you to, but I don't think it would be a good one. I'll text you okay?" I say, enveloping her into a quick hug then walking off to the direction of the door.

Now, as it was twenty minutes to six, I rushed off to the park, not to disappoint Liam...once more.

"Heyy." I say as I approach Liam once I spot him.

He is not in the good mood to smile as he says "hi"

"Well, how are you doing?" I say, not to make the conversation awkward.

" I wouldn't say okay." He mentions, shifting his gaze to the sky.

" I'm really sorry I bailed out last time. I should've said something. I just want to make it up t..." Liam stops my words as he says,

"Can I at least say something?" He says, not looking me into the eyes, which he rarely does.

"Fine." I say. It takes a few seconds before he could say something.

"I like you, Mellissa." He started. "I've always liked you. I've never told you because I was scared. Scared I'll be rejected. And ever since you met Jay, things had changed. I had to fight the urge to like you, and so I wiped away the feelings for you. But every time I did that, I would always come back to you. You. It's you Mellissa. God. I love you so much that I can't hide it anymore."
My mouth falls slightly agape from the words I just heard. Something I didn't expect I'll hear from Liam. All this time I spent more time with him, it just made it worse.

"I umm..."  I start to say as Liam suddenly leans in to kiss me. I open my mouth to say something but then close it.   I just stand there, letting what he just said sink in.

I fight the emotions at the time and pull my head inches away from Liam before it was too late.

"I'm sorry I gave you the wrong impressions." I say, before I walk away.

I don't look back at where I had left Liam standing, probably heartbroken. I wipe away the tears that had started flowing, as I start sobbing.

'I don't have the same feelings towards Liam' is all I said to myself as I walked down the street.

     *********
"It's going to be fine. Trust me." Liz said as she  slowly brushed her hands through my hair.

At this point, I was sitting on the hardwood floor of my room next to my bed, with Liz sitting on my bed.

I texted her the second I got home to give me company. She had gotten excited at first after I told her what Liam said, though her smile didn't last that long.

"At least you should have something to eat." She said, as she stood up from where she had been seated, making her way to the door.

"I'll have water." I say.
