Chapter 23: Countdown to Survivor Series

(Time skip, one month later)

The tri-branded pay-per-view for brand supremacy also known as Survivor Series is now creeping around the corner under three weeks and all the locker room of Raw, NXT and SmackDown are on their toes ready for a possible invasion with the NXT Champion Kenji Cruz and NXT Women's Champion Kairi Sane leading the black and gold brand to battle.

Today was Friday, and team NXT looks to fire the first shot as they attempt to invade SmackDown, and Kenji hopes to cross paths with the Universal Champion AJ Styles.

Over the last few weeks, Raw, NXT and SmackDown has put their men and women's teams together for the traditional Survivor Series elimination matches, and the teams are as follows:

(Women)

Team Raw: Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler and Nikki Cross

Team NXT: Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai and Toni Storm

Team SmackDown: Bayley, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, Lacey Evans and Tamina

(Men)

Team Raw: Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre and Ricochet

Team NXT: Adam Cole, Finn Balor, Keith Lee, Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne

Team SmackDown: Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn, Daniel Bryan and Sheamus

Along with that, there were title changes when Andrade lost the United States Championship to Bobby Lashley, changing the match to:

Bobby Lashley (Raw-U.S. Champion) vs. Jeff Hardy (SmackDown-Intercontinental Champion) vs. Kushida (NXT North American Champion)

The tag team triple threat match still remained the same.

Tonight's SmackDown, most of the NXT roster are in the building along with participants of the elimination matches. Kenji and Kairi held a rally to their fellow locker room brethren.

Kenji: SmackDown won't know when we'll hit them

Kairi: we will catch them by surprise

Team NXT all cheered and then waited for the main event, which is a six man tag match between AJ Styles, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan taking on Sami Zayn, Sheamus and Braun Strowman.

Kenji is leading his peers which consisted of Adam Cole, Keith Lee, Finn Balor, Matt Riddle, Tyler Bate, Kushida and Pete Dunne to interfere in the main event in an hour.

During a non-title match between the Usos and Jeff Hardy versus Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler, team Raw has invaded the arena through the crowd as the red brand are led by the Street Profits and Bobby Lashley with some of the red brand Superstars following, consisting of the Viking Raiders, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander, Andrade and Samoa Joe.

The seven SmackDown Superstars were in the ring when Bobby Roode came down to aid the blue brand. The Usos, Hardy, Cesaro, Nakamura, Roode and Ziggler stood shoulder to shoulder as the Raw Superstars slid in and attacked the SmackDown superstars.

The odds evened for the blue brand as King Corbin led more of the SmackDown locker room to aid their locker room brethren. As the dust settled, team Raw got out and retreated while team SmackDown stood tall, but both the red and blue brands don't know team NXT is in the building, waiting to strike at the perfect moment.

What made Kenji even more focused is when the United States Champion Bobby Lashley and the Raw Tag Team Champions the Street Profits were there, so the Samurai assumed that the WWE Champion Alex Auditore is lurking in the shadows.

The NXT locker room were a bit upset that Raw took the first shot, but Kenji saw it as nothing more than a minor setback.

Kenji: remember everyone, the main event six man tag team match is the main target, so be ready

The plan was set to have the men invade the ring while the women invade the locker room.

(Later)

The six man tag team main event has now started, and Kenji is now rallying the troops. Kairi has left as she led the women to the locker room.

Kenji has his strategy set to attack.

Kenji: alright guys, once Styles hits his finisher, we go in and strike

The men's roster cheered and pump their fists as they watched the match.

(In the match)

The six man tag team match was ongoing as Universal Champion AJ Styles is on the offense against Sheamus, not knowing that his NXT counterpart is ready to strike.

(Fast forward)

After Roman hits the Superman Punch on Strowman, the Monster Among Men stumble upon the corner where Zayn tagged himself in, not knowing AJ has tagged in as well. Assuming Reigns is the legal man, Zayn hits the Helluva Kick on the Big Dog, but standing and waiting on the apron was the Phenomenal One.

As Zayn turned around, AJ hits the Phenomenal Forearm, but as the WWE Champion went for the pin, he was interrupted by Kenji's theme. AJ directed traffic as his partners Reigns and Bryan stood and waited for NXT to come down.

Standing on the stairs was the NXT Champion himself, staring down at SmackDown's WWE Champion. Styles was inviting Kenji to come in while Roman, Daniel, Braun and Sheamus blocked his path. Kenji went down the stairs and stood in front of the barricade to meet them. The Samurai smirked and snapped his fingers, causing the NXT Superstars to ambush the blockade from behind.

Keith Lee launched the attack after pouncing on Braun Strowman while Adam Cole, Pete Dunne, Kushida and the rest of the NXT roster ambushed the blue brand. Kenji took the opportunity to jump the barricade and slide in the ring to stand face to face with one of his opponents at Survivor Series.

While AJ and Kenji stood face to face, NXT continued their attack until the SmackDown roster came to help Reigns, Strowman, Zayn, Bryan and Sheamus. NXT's Cameron Grimes slid in the ring to ambush Styles, but the Phenomenal One countered into a Pele Kick, sending Grimes to slide out of the ring.

(Meanwhile)

Kairi led the NXT women to the SmackDown women's locker room and a brawled ensued inside with NXT standing tall after Kairi landed a shot on SmackDown Women's Champion Sasha Banks.

(Back in the ring)

SmackDown's Gran Metalik looked for a cheap shot on Kenji, but the Samurai kicked him the gut before hitting the Gojira Canadian Destroyer. As Metalik rolled out of the ring, AJ Styles and Kenji Cruz begins to trade punches with each other while they try to set up each other's finishers.

The show ended with the ongoing brawl between SmackDown and NXT at ringside and the two world champions fighting inside the ring. 

Raw is in a couple of days, and Kenji hopes to meet with the WWE Champion Alex Auditore, and Kairi hopes to cross paths with the Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss.
