Chapter 25: Retaliation

(Wednesday)

Following two successful invasions on SmackDown and Raw, the NXT roster were now on their toes for a possible retaliation from the red and blue brands. WWE released some video exclusively showing the NXT Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa calling out the Street Profits and the Usos for an open invite to come to their "house." Advertised for tonight's NXT are a couple of matches:

Kushida vs. Cameron Grimes

Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae vs. Bianca Belair, Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley

Adam Cole (with the Undisputed Era) vs. Killian Dain

Kenji Cruz vs. Finn Balor

As the show started, Kenji was getting ready for the main event against one member of the NXT men's team and potentially his next challenger for the NXT Championship, the Prinxe Finn Balor.

As he was wrapping his hands, his locker room door slowly open without him knowing since he's faced away. Then the Samurai felt some soft arms wrapped around him along with a body rub. Kenji smiled and turned around to see his beautiful and kawaii girlfriend, Kairi.

Kenji: well hello, Pirate Princess

Kairi: hello to you too, Samurai

The two giggled and kiss each other on the lips.

Kenji: you know Raw and SmackDown might retaliate

Kairi: well if they do, we'll be ready; how about you?

Kenji: if Finn and I see any red or blue, then we'll put our match aside and fight side to side

Kairi: Io and I will help in case Raw or SmackDown comes as well

Kenji: babe, I'm still overwhelmed from Raw a few days ago

Kairi: me too, I kept rewatching the highlights with you, Alex and AJ sharing the ring

Kenji: and we'll share it again along with the women's champions in the first ever triple threat mixed tag team match main event

Kairi: we're in the main event together

Kenji: I never imagined that, but it is happening

Kairi: and it is with the man I'm in love with

Kenji smiled and share a loving and passionate kiss with Kairi while she rubs her body on him.

(Few minutes later)

The first match of the night is underway as NXT North American Champion Kushida made his entrance. Then his scheduled opponent Cameron Grimes came walking down the ramp, but he was ambushed out of nowhere by a dropkick from Rey Mysterio, surprising the Time Splitter and the NXT crowd as the Master of the 619 is in the Full Sail Arena.

Mysterio got in the ring and demanded a match against Kushida. The North American Champion nodded and welcomed the challenge, and with that the bell rang as Kushida goes one on one against Rey Mysterio for the first time ever.

(Fast forward)

Kushida attempted for the Hoverboard Lock on Mysterio, but Rey got out of it and kicked him to the second rope. Rey launched from the ropes and hits the 619. As Mysterio went for the frog splash, Kushida rolled out of the way and countered into a small package pin for the victory.

However, the celebration was cut short as SmackDown's Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura attacked both men. Kushida and Rey fought them off and then Mysterio leveled Zayn with a diving senton. In the ring, Nakamura was setting for the Kinshasa on Kushida before he got tackled by Raw's Bobby Lashley. The United States Champion looks to lock in the full nelson in which he calls the Hurt Lock on Kushida, but he got dropkicked by SmackDown's Jeff Hardy.
