Daniella grew up in Forks. Her parents were kind and cared about her. Her mom was a school teacher, and her dad was a doctor. Her life was normal, or at least as normal as it could be. Daniella was a talkative child and was always seen talking, singing, dancing, or anything energetic. She loved the outdoors and loved just spending time with family and friends. Throughout elementary school and middle school, she had many friends and had good grades. During middle school, Daniella got into cheerleading, and that continued into high school. Anything sport-related or physical activity, Daniella seemed to love.

During her high school year, Daniella's life changed. One night when it was icy, Daniella and her family were driving home. Their car slid off the road/bridge and slid into a deep river. In a matter of seconds, their car was submerged in water. Both her mother and herself was knocked out on impact. Her father was able to get Daniella out of the car and onto dry land. Her father went back down to get her mother, but he never reemerged from the water. Daniella was still unconscious when this was all happening. She laid on the ground right by the river for thirty minutes before help arrived. She woke up two days later after being in critical condition for those two days. Her life wasn't the same after that. She stopped doing cheer and just went quiet. Her grandmother had moved to Forks to help keep something the same by living in the same house.

During her hospital stay, that is when Daniella met Dr. Cullen. She didn't think much of it. She thought he was nice and a good doctor. Her focus wasn't really on him. What she didn't know was he had told the rest to keep an eye on her. When Daniella had returned to school, that is when she met Jasper. It was an instant connection. Of course, she wasn't open or talking, but she felt something when being around him. He talked to her some, but usually, he would sit there with her during lunches when he would sit in the library reading. After a while, Daniella started to make friends with the rest of the Cullens, and they helped her get back to her more normal talkative self.

Daniella learned about the Cullens by a flook when she was over at the Cullen household, and she somehow got a cut on her hand. Jasper had tried to attack her. It scared the hell out of Daniella, and she stopped talking to them for a few days, but once she calmed down, she was able to listen to what they are. After that, she and Jasper started to date. They have been with him ever since. She fell for him before she even knew how close they were.

Daniella was changed after she graduated, and her grandmother had passed due to old age. Aro changed her due to his learning of her knowledge of vampires. She was kidnapped and taken to Volterra for some time. However, they did teach her to be "vegetarian" because they did not want or need a war with the Cullens. She developed a friendship with Alek because she called out him when he was an ass, and he hated that at first but soon ended up appreciating it. Also, she had a friendship with Marcus. Within two months, she returned to the Cullens, and no fight ever happened between the Volturi, who Daniella did not care for besides a couple and the Cullen.
