(TW: DETAILED THOUGHTS OF HURTING PEOPLE - IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO THIS TOPIC PLEASE DO NOT READ)
I watched as the door slowly creaked open.
"Hey, Vincent, can you help me with something? I mean - since you're blood bound to do so and all." I heard upon my visitor's entry.
It was Y/N. I made eye contact with her as I crossed my arms over the desk.
"What exactly do you need help with?"
She took a couple of steps into the room. Her hair swayed gently as she did so, her fingertips never straying too far away from the handle on the door.
It was odd - I wasn't in the right mindset that day, maybe that was it, but I was wondering with little shame what her blood would taste like. Delicious, probably.
I attempted to push that fantasy to the back of my mind as she continued talking.
"I think the Pac-Man machine's bugged or something. Nicole tried to take a look at it, but she had to go wait on tables." I tilted my head.
"Don't you think Henry's better at that sort of thing?"
"I mean, yeah, but I thought my opening line was pretty funny. I couldn't have said that to Henry."
I rolled my eyes before standing up.
"I suppose I could look at it."
Y/N smiled and signaled for me to follow her as she exited the room. I obliged and left after her, closing the door quietly behind me.
I expected her to start going on about something or explain the problem in more detail, but she stayed quiet. I strayed a couple of steps behind her.
Y/N's hair swished back and forth as she walked ahead, humming faintly to herself. Things like this were routine for her.
I liked the way she walked - not how she did it, per say, but more her demeanor. It was perfect to me, the unintentional way she bounced on every step just slightly; the way she hummed near silently because she thought nobody could hear her.
I could.
Maybe I paid too much attention to her tendencies. It didn't matter, though, I'd grown used to it.
Y/N did something to me. I didn't know what, but it messed with my head. What was wrong with me? I felt like I lost control when around her. Why?
I thought I knew what I was doing, but Y/N threw me all off. There was just something about her I couldn't place. It had ruined me. I hadn't killed in weeks because of her.
And the bloodlust had gotten gradually worse - it slowly started to merge with my newfound obsession with Y/N until I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to hurt her so bad.
At this point, I was zoning out everything around me.
I knew I couldn't, but it seemed so hard. I had every advantage - we lived together for Christ's sake. That's what made it so close. Close yet far.
I know. I thought in panic. I need to get her moved out as soon as possible. Henry. I'll ask Henry to give her a pay raise so she can buy a house faster.
My stomach hurt, and I chewed on the inside of my cheek. I needed to get out of here. Silently, I begged for an intervention so that I could go talk to Henry as soon as possible.
Suddenly, a voice brought me back to my senses.
"Did you guys fix it?" It was Y/N.
I blinked before noticing Nicole and Anthony standing around the Pac-Man machine. We had really walked all the way to the arcade without me noticing?
Anthony placed his hands on his hips and grinned smugly.
"I got it fixed; just a loose wire. I guess we don't need William after all." He boasted. I growled under my breath.
What a cheeky bastard. I could wipe that fucking braindead smirk right off of your stupid face.
It had thrown me off a little to get called 'William'. I was more used to going by my middle name instead. But, I assumed Anthony knew that. Dick.
Meanwhile, he continued to go on to Y/N.
"I guess I'm your knight in shining armor, huh, Y/N?"
"It was only a Pac-Man bug."
He was getting a little too close to her for comfort. My fists clenched as I watched it unfold.
I'm going to fucking kill him. I'm going to strangle him to death. I couldn't handle it.
I exchanged a quick glance with a disturbed Nicole before turning to walk away. She could handle it. I had to get to Henry's office.
Quickly, I scaled the halls. I knew where it was. Soon, the wooden door came into view. I could see Henry inside through the window.
I had felt a little bad for leaving Y/N behind with Anthony, but what could I have done? I would have seriously injured him, which is fine by me. But company policy, I suppose.
I knocked on the door.
"Come in," I heard from inside.
I straightened my uniform before going for the handle. I didn't want to look as chaotic as I felt. I quietly turned the handle and opened the door.
"Oh, hey, Will," I heard upon entry.
Henry smiled at me from where he sat. I grinned back and went to sit down in one of the cushioned chairs in front of his desk.
"What do you need?" He asked.
I sighed, not really knowing how to say this; I had acted on impulse.
"Well, I was... wondering if Y/N could get a pay raise." I bit my tongue awkwardly.
Henry tilted his head.
"A pay raise? Why?"
"Well, she's been doing good work, and... I feel a little bit bad for her. I think better pay would be beneficial since she needs her own house at some point." I glanced down at my knees as I finished speaking.
"If you think she deserves it, then sure." Henry trailed off as he replied. "Are you sure you're not just doing this because you like her?"
A playful grin pulled at his lips. I furrowed my eyebrows at him.
"What gives you that idea?" I asked.
He leaned back in his chair.
"You can just tell. It's plain to see."
"I don't like Y/N."
"Name 3 other employees you'd let move in with you."
I opened my mouth to say something, but stopped short. Henry, you jackass. I thought. Henry chuckled.
"See? You're a lovesick bastard." I clenched my fists. "Anyway, I'll give her 7%."
"7%? That's quite a lot for a small raise." He smiled at me.
"Oh, but I'd do anything for my best friend's girlfriend!" I glared him down, unamused.
But, at least I got what I wanted.
"Whatever," I mumbled.
