Just a day. An ordinary day for Prince and me in Minnesota for the time being until the next shows in Canada. But in my mind, I know exactly what day it is thought I think I'm supposed to let it go by unknown. Birthdays are here and there for me, I stop celebrating with partying when I turned thirty but I still acknowledge the day, but Prince does not. He did back when we weren't on speaking terms—for two years straight he sent me gifts year-round but especially on my birthday. Now, this is the first time I am around him on his technical born day and I don't know if I don't mention it and just keep it normal?

The thing is I understand it completely that he doesn't celebrate, but I may have gotten him something. Only because he gave me many gifts so it's nice to give back after all the shit he puts up with me. I kept every single gift he gave me unless it was flowers—they are back in my hometown in storage. It was purchase months ago but today feels like a good day to give it to him. So I won't say anything about a 'birthday' but I do have a few things in store for him. Unfortunately, I'm on my period so no fooling around for us.

"Smells good in here." Zeke comes in as I saute some fresh cut mixed vegetables. I conceived Prince to let his chef have a few days off for cooking for just us. It's been a while since we both had a homecooked meal that I made. "And it looks like you are cooking for an army. It's only you and P, Melia." He laughs lightly.

I sprinkle some of my blended spices into the mixture while smiling, "Well I plan on giving some of you guys food as well, Zeke. I only learned to cook in big portions." I said truthfully. "He loves fettuccine alfredo so that's what he is getting."

He leans on the counter with his arms crossed, "He does. That's the only pasta I see him eat all of it in one sitting." Zeke nudge me slightly as I looked up. "This is sweet of you. I bare saw any woman cook for him, especially on this day."

"What do you mean? It's just a normal day." I played it cool as he smiles and nods. "Is he in the studio or still with the band? I just need to toss everything together and I'll be ready for dinner."

Prince has been gone all day long—I didn't even wake up in his arms this morning. He did his thing while I did mines. After I did some editing and work on the documentary, I begin to work in the kitchen all day long to make dinner and a dessert since Prince has always had a major sweet tooth.

Zeke steps back, "I believe he's in the studio, I'll go send him down in ten minutes."

"Perfect, Thanks Z.," I said as he left out. My pasta and sauce are done but I need to toss in my veggies to finish it off. As I walk around the kitchen making sure I have my breadsticks and a bottle of sparkling 'wine' before I went to the dining area to the already set table for two.

For some reason, I felt nervous—it's probably the period hormones taking over me. I place everything on the table nicely as I glance over the medium size jewelry box at my seat, hoping and praying that he will like his gift. Next was to get our plates on the table so when he comes in, everything will be ready. I take a seat at the table waiting on him while fixing my simple floral dress and brushing back my loose curls. We don't get to have date nights often so this is something a bit special.

Moments later I hear the clicking of heels in the marble flooring, Prince appears in the doorway with a small smile on his lips.

"And what is this?"

I stood up from my chair before walking over to him. Like always his arms wraps around my waist easily as he lightly kisses me. "Dinner for two, what else could it be?" I wink and peck his lips a few more times. "Did I pull you away from something important?"
