"Weren't you the same on talking about you most obey your parents crap. So I did and now you're complaining."

"You knew your parents business was nowhere near good and I even told you that yet you're signing papers to run it."

"Nothing ever satisfies you."

"Devon, how are you doing exactly what I told you not to do? Has anything to about my satisfaction."

"My parents chose me to do this because they want what's best for me Mickay why don't you just understand that." He said pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Your parents picked you because they don't like that I am drawing you away from the dark actions. Why don't you realize that."

"So I should pick you over my family. You're selfish, you know that."

"Devon am not telling you to choose any side. I love you so I'm trying to help you, don't you understand that."

"How exactly are you helping? Don't you think I could maybe do better than them. You call my family evil because of what they do and now you're acting as if it didn't happen."

"Devon I'm not planning on arguing with you."

"You already started an argument Mickay."

"It only happened because you agreed to do the same thing they do. Devon, their pretending to help people but are using the money which they don't need on themselves."

"You know what Mickay. I need space and time to think." He said grabbing his coat from the rack.

"When you've changed your mind. Because I know it's gonna take time. Just meet me by the altar one that day. " I said pulling the engagement ring off my finger and placed it on the table near where he was standing in our small apartment.

His eyes stayed on the ring for a moment before he walked out and slammed the door. I wasn't going to sit around and cry about it. I just needed to pray and ask God to help him.
That's what I did. But I still had my doubts but I tried to surpass my doubt and leave it all in the Lord's hands.

Devon's and I relationship wasn't easy. No relationship is but the public always had something negative to say about us. A black and a white woman dating. That stressed him out along with his parents taking a while to accept that he and I would be someday married. Now when they found out about me being Christian and all they disliked me a bit more.

Their little business was supposed to be for Charity not even 50% of whatever they make goes to charity. I knew he could do better but I just want what's best for him and that isn't it.

I looked at the time and realized I was running late for church. Crap. The next bus that goes by my church will reach in 20 minutes I said looking at the time. I threw on a blue lace shirt dress and brown slingback heels. I stuck a fascinator headwear into my curly wig and grabbed my purse and was out the door. Making it just in time before the bus drives off.
