Devon's POV...
2 months and 1 week until...
I walked out having nowhere else to go except 500 miles across the country. To the place I was running from. The place where the most selfish people I knew dwelled. My home back in North Carolina. It took me nearly 9 hours to get there. After spending sleepless nights in a cheap motel for the past few weeks.
I was home. Leaving behind my fiancé who I think is pretty upset with me. My job I worked hard to get. Basically my whole life behind, a life without them just to come back.
"Devon?" My mother asked as she saw my grey Mercedes Benz c-class coupe pull up in her driveway.
"Hey mom, how are you?" I said shutting down the vehicle and stepping out.
I saw that she looked over my shoulder, most likely to see if Mickay had came.
"I'm fine." She said hugging me
"You don't mind if I stay here for a little while do you?"
"Of course I don't. Let's go inside for lunch." She said, leading me to the double glass front door. The last time I had been here was when I brought Mickay here. That ended badly by the way. "Your father isn't here yet and he won't be back until late tonight."
"Devon!" My little sister said running over to me. "I haven't seen you in ages." She whined.
"You're supposed to be at school." I said, patting her head.
"I know but I don't feel well." She said fake coughing into her hands.
"Liar." I whispered to her ruffling her hair then followed my mother to wherever in the house she was going.
"If I had known that you were coming over I'd ask someone to help me fix up back the room." She said looking at the scattered furniture all around my room with cloth over them.
"Don't worry mom I'll start doing it now." I sat patting her shoulder and entering the room.
"Carter and Alexis are visiting town for a few weeks if you need help I'll go call him." My mom said pushing her hair behind her ear.
"If I need help I'll let you know. You go rest." I said turning her out of my room.
"Have fun." She said closing the door.
I drew off the cloth on the furniture and let the dust particles rise. "Mia bring me the broom please!" I called for my sister after seeing the amount of dust bunnies that crept on the floor. Mia came in and leaned the broom on the wall and came back out. After a good hour of pushing and pulling and sweeping I was finally finished. All I needed to do was clean the mirrors, but apart from that I was done.
I parked the dirt by the door and went out to find my mother to get a clean bed spread. "Devon, you're finished already?" My mother asked when she saw me entering the kitchen.
"Yep. Mom where are the bed spreads." I asked her.
"Upstairs in the room left to the office on the middle shelf."
"Upstairs in the room left to the office on the middle shelf. Got it thanks." I found the room and entered it. Sheets by the dozen were placed on the the shelf neatly folded too. Arranged by colour and by size. All done by my mother. My mom should hire help sometimes all this work on her alone is unfair. When I get married I'd never make my wife be a house wife.
I want to live in a big house yes, with loads of children but I'd never let Mickay do all this work on her own. Mickay. Would she even answer the phone if I called her.
