Devon's POV...
12 hours after...
When we were finally away from the busy venue and in the comfort of our apartment Mickay gave me a bone crushing hug. She barely talked to me during the wedding and at the dinner venue. I embraced her hugging her back.
"I missed you." She said no louder than a whisper.
"The last three months without you were..." I told her, I don't really know how to describe my last three months but I did know I missed her.
"You can't be as eventful as mine." She said, sniffling her nose.
"Really? How so." I asked, wanting to hear everything she had to say about her past three months.
"Well, I started overdosing on my migraine pills the week after you left. Even though you hated me because you didn't call, message or anything. I didn't do so either because I thought you wouldn't want to hear from me. Then I found out my mother is actually alive a few hours before the wedding and the family I thought I knew all hid this from me. But what about your past three months?"
"I would never hate you Mickay, and you've never really told me much about your mother."
"I did actually. It was when I was eighteen nineteen or something." She said picking up the ends of her dress and walking over to the love seat.
"I met you when you were nineteen. And now you're twenty-five, not everything sticks in my memory that long.
"She was an..."
"I still don't see why they would lie to you about your mother."
"That's the same thing I'm saying. What happened during your three months."
"Uhm. I stayed in a motel for a week, then left for South Carolina to go stay with my parents. While being head of the charity event, I made a few changes."
"Like." Mickay said, cutting me off.
"Stop cutting in while I'm talking, it'll make me finish faster. I did the same as my parents for the first month. Then at dinner two months ago I said I'd be making a change in how much of the money actually goes to charity."
"From what to what?"
"Mickay, let me finish I was going to tell you."
"Fine, continue."
"Also the first month I left it started drinking hard too. And when I moved in with my parents again that got worse. Then one day I viewed your status. The verse was Psalms 55:22. Something about casting burdens. It came to me at the right time too. Then I sat in my new office and actually prayed a meaningful prayer for the first time. Also I changed it from forty-five percent given to charity to seventy-five or more."
"You know I'm glad you didn't change your mind. "
"Me too, me too" I said putting my chin on the top of her head.
"Mickay there's also something else but don't jump to conclusions, because it wasn't my fault."
"What is that?" She asked looking up in my face.
"Me and my friend went to this bar. So he went out to get fresh air and my parents' neighbor's daughter Ingrid came up and kissed me." I explained to her waiting on what she had to say next.
"Devon." I heard Mickay's voice say.
"Mickay?"
"If we are going to start a family, I-. I don't want it to be here. I don't want it to be in Florida. I know we have family here, but I just don't want to raise a family here. I know we have all our family and probably life here, it's not like we wouldn't visit them. We could for most holidays." She went on about moving. She ignored it, thank heavens.
