chapter twenty

Nekoma was definitely a good mixture of chaotic and calm. however; whatever it is that you've went through with your team would've never prepared you for the flamboyant boy from Fukurodani Academy. Bokuto Kotaro was an interesting character in your opinion and he was clearly proud of his school as he greatly resembled their mascot.

The only difference being was that Bokuto is loud. Owls aren't loud.

'I don't want to sound rude, but can he quiet down a bit?'

You felt bad thinking about him in that manner, but not even Nekoma got that loud. What baffles you even more that it's just him. He truly was the definition of a one man show.

You felt a pat on your shoulder and looked to see that it was Kuroo. He grinned down at you as he got to your level and spoke to you while also staring at Bokuto.

"You and Kenma definitely get along, right?" You were a bit confused on Kuroo's question, but part of you told you that he already knew what you were thinking. And it's possible that Kenma has also thought of Bokuto the same way you were. "Don't let that airhead fool you, he's a serious monster."

"It amazes me that you know what I'm thinking."

"You're literally an open book (Y/N)-chan. You gotta work on hiding your expressions a bit more."

Your cheeks lit up in embarrassment before a sheepish smile appeared on your face. A few moments of silence passed between you and Kuroo before you came to a sudden realization.

"Kuroo, you said my first name." You looked up and saw him grin down at you and if you were a complete stranger to him, you would've found him a bit weird (well he kinda is already).

"Does it bother you?" It was in this moment that Kuroo was hoping you weren't. He thought of you as a good friend and he'd feel happy if you felt the same. It's the first time Nekoma's ever had a manager in the three years he's been on the team and with Kuroo's logic, a strong captain has a strong bond with everyone in it, including the manager.

"I mean it's a first ever since I've transferred, but I guess it's okay now that we've known each other for a while."

"Great! I'll let the rest of the team know." Your eyes had widened and you let out a sigh as you watched the captain walk away. Would it be too late if you resigned? Probably.

You looked down at your clip board to check on some things, and it was in that moment that you felt eyes bore into your being. Being a model had its perks and one of them was gaining to ability to feel someone's eyes on you. You looked up to see some of the players from Fukurodani staring right at you; however, they all looked away before you could make proper eye contact.

All but one.

You heard someone walking up behind you and your first instinct was to casually walk away without actually acknowledging the person. So, that's exactly what you did.

Almost immediately you were stopped by a hand on your shoulder and turned around. The hand on your shoulder belonged Bokuto, who was staring intensely at you.

You felt your cheeks redden a bit before you cleared your throat.

"C-Can I help you?"

He let out a grin as he suddenly shouted over your shoulder towards your rooster of a captain.

"Kuroo! I see you finally got a manager!"

You turned around to see Kuroo smirk at him.

"Yeah! And with her with us, we're gonna win today's match!"

"You lost today's match, so what?"

Kuroo let out a whine as he turned away from you. You heard a sigh next to you on the bench and you sent Yaku a lopsided smile.

"Need a massage? You did throw yourself one too many times on that floor."

He immediately nodded and you settled behind Yaku as you kneaded his shoulders. He left out a satisfied sigh as he let you release the tension that had built up from the match.

"Hey, hey, (Y/N)-senpai! Me next!" Lev reminded you of a puppy and you happily obliged. He took a seat next to Yaku as he waited his turn. A few moments had passed before Bokuto had walked towards Kuroo.

"Nice match! You guys had us there for a second!" Kuroo only grumbled before letting out a frustrated sigh and sticking his arm out as to congratulate Bokuto.

You didn't doubt Kuroo when he said Bokuto was a monster, but you didn't expect him to be a literal beast. All of Fukurodani had amazed you, and the good thing was that you were able to take some notes on their plays.

Bokuto had then looked at you before walking up to you and sticking his own arm out.

"I'm Bokuto! Did you see my plays? They were awesome!"

You hesitantly stuck out your arm to shake his hand and as you expect, he shook it in a vigorous manner.

"Y-Yeah, you did really great," you said as you patted Yaku on the back, a signal that his massage was done. Lev excitedly slipped into Yaku's place and you repeated the process. "Oh, I'm (L/N) (Y/N), by the way." You sent Bokuto a small smile before giving Lev your full attention. You thought that'd be enough, and you were sure that the captain from Fukurodani would continue talking to Kuroo, until he had called out your name.

You looked up at him, expecting him to go on a long tangent about how great he is. You were ready to take mental notes, but you weren't ready for what was about to come out of his mouth.

"Can you give me a massage?"

In an instant, the setter (who you learned was named Akashi) sprinted up towards you all and immediately started to drag his captain away. From a distance, you could see his managers scolding Bokuto and reminding him that he too has managers. An apology was shouted your way and you sheepishly smiled as a way to soothe their stress.

whoop whoop twentieth chapter! ngl i feel like it's a bit sucky but i'll try my best for the next update. also because it's the twentieth chapter i might make a video, might not lmao. also my birthday is today :) (january 3rd, i'm now 18 *cries*)

life updates: i feel the same. i've been listening to we must love by onf for a straight month now (the song is so good). i'm currently getting into enhyphen and other new rookie groups (woo!ah!, ghost9, treasure, and p1harmony)
