A sigh escaped Naga's lips as they finally rounded everyone up and into the school where they were staying.
She had evidentially been able to avoid the other teams so far. Staying in a tightly knit circle containing of Tanaka and Nishinoya. Their obnoxious presence pushed most people away besides a Nekoma player named Yamamoto. Who happened to be just as efficient at keeping others away as the other two. She knew she would get along great with the other punk-boy but she didn't dare talk to any of the other teams yet. Simply out of fear that they would find out immediately and the whole plan would go to shit.
It seemed like they were waking forever when Yamamoto finally stopped in front of a room and slid open the door. "This is where you all will be staying!" He cheerfully slugged his arm over Tanaka's shoulder as they sauntered inside. Mats and bags were already strewn everywhere. "Our team is rooming with you guys while Fukurodani is rooming with Aoba Johsai."
"Seijoh?" Naga asked bewildered, finally breaking her silence.
Yamamoto barely acknowledged her existence as he walked over to his mat area and dug through his bag. "Yeah they're the other team who was invited to take the place of the other missing teams."
A grimace covered Naga's face. Yes, Naga had claimed to have never met any of the male-counterpart volleyball teams but that didn't mean she hadn't met individual people. Or person per-say. "So Oikawa-kun will be here then?"
"Uhh, yeah why wouldn't he be if Seijoh is?"
Naga remained silent as Noya gave her a questioning look. She knew she'd have to explain to them later how she knew the obnoxious setter and captain. She felt like her eyes were rolling into the back of her head in exasperation.
She met Oikawa Tooru in their second-year at a volleyball tournament. Push came to shove and she may have made out with him in a janitors closet after she let him charm her over. She was frustrated after they lost their match and needed to let off steam so she went along with it. They kept in contact after that but nothing serious happened. She found out he was just trying to get with her to piss off Wakatoshi-kun over the fact that he was 'getting with his opposite counterpart'. So she ended contact with him and that was that.
As much as her and Ushijima Wakatoshi were total opposites, they had immense respect for each other and a silent friendship. It was a bond formed through 'I got your back if you've got mine'. They helped each other with small tasks and quietly pushed themselves to their limits while practicing. It was a healthy friendship and Naga would do anything to protect it. She wasn't going to let some petty boy-child ruin a connection like that with such a strong ally.
She shook herself again from her thoughts as more of her teammates came in. Daichi and Asahi had uneasy looks on their faces when they eyed Naga in the room with all the other boys. They couldn't raise any suspicion though because if 'Kiroji' decided to ask to room with the managers or by himself it would seem weird.
Naga noted that the spare spots were quickly being taken up. She grabbed a spare clean bedroll that was laid out for them and picked her way over some mats. She eyed an open spot near the side of the far wall where she would only have one other person to her right. Perfect. A grin covered her face as she lay the roll down.
She made her bed and threw her two bags onto it, claiming it as hers.
"Na-! MMPH-" She heard a sharp slap as Tanaka smacked a hand over Ennoshita's mouth whose eyes were now wide looking towards her. He quickly played it off as he jokingly shoved the wing spiker to the side.
"Nah- this is my spot!" Tanaka snickered and Ennoshita's panicked expression disappeared as he realized his mistake.
"Oh please! I know you wanna sleep next to Noya like normal, this is mine." The two started fake bicker about the spot until Tanaka gave up.
She put a smirk on her face and gave them a secret thumbs up. That was an expert level coverup. Wow.
Time passed as everyone else came into the room and claimed their spots. Most of Nekoma was in the gym with Fukurodani and Seijoh so that's where the rest of Karasuno headed also. Apparently they do some sort of "introduction" where they go around a group like middle schoolers if there's new people.
The whole of Karasuno and a few straggling Nekoma players headed down into the gym. Naga stuck suspiciously close to Daichi's side. Which made him nudge her a little bit and shake his head to tell her not to stand so close. She caught the hint and took a step away, but the uneasiness of if the plan would fail ate at her mind.
She took a gulp and forced herself to calm down as they stepped into the gym. Fukurodani, Aoba Johsai, and the rest of Nekoma were already mingling together. Some sat in circles, others stood off the side. They seemed at ease, though she could feel the tension in the air of having Aoba Johsai there. Something was off and she wanted to know what. It seemed like Asahi caught onto her suspicions so he leaned over from where he was walking on her other side.
"This is the first time Nekoma and Fukurodani has officially met Aoba Johsai."
Naga's mouth formed into an 'o'. "I would've thought that they would've played against each other at least once before?l
"Fate has a way with things like this, yeah?"
"It always does." She let out a shallow chuckle before making her way towards the other teams with Asahi, Daichi, and Sugawara.
"Whose the new pretty boy?" A sly voice asked from within a group of Nekoma players. Naga recognized the voice almost immediately. Her eyes caught Kuroo Tetsurou's with a piercing gaze. He stared back equally, intrigued by the new player in Karasuno's midst.
"Why don't we do the introductions and you'll find out, hmm?" Daichi smirked, though she could tell it was secretly very strained. He was worried. Who wouldn't be? This introduction would have all eyes on Naga and would prove one hundred percent if her disguise was believable or not. So far it seemed like it was doing the trick but you never know.
"Man, so up in arms today Dick-chi." Kuroo smirked and side-eyed Naga before whistling loud, calling attention to the others.
"Two sides of the same coin, I tell you." Daichi laugh-whispered quietly to Naga who chuckled in return. She could see why Daichi said they were similar now. They even had the same nickname for the Karasuno captain.
"Listen up! It's introduction time and then afterwards we'll have a collective dinner. Practice starts first thing tomorrow then, alright?" A collective 'hai' was yelled from virtually every member in the room in response to the scheming captain. "Awesome. Everyone circle up!" He commanded again, eyes not leaving Karasuno's 'newest' member.
