×××The was one of merriment. Today was the joining of David Walker and Mary Strum.
Mary paced inside Evelyn's home where she had been staying. David had been at his home with Seth and soon, Seth would come to stay with Evelyn so that David and his new wife could be alone.
Wife! Mary was going to be his wife! She was thrilled and terrified all at the same time. Everyone in the village halted work to join the two in their celebration. And she was beyond nervous!

David paced the floor of his home, the home he was going to bring his wife back to. He nearly crumpled at the thought. He had been waiting so long to make Mary his wife and now he's sweating like a hussy in church!
"Calm down David, you both love each other. What's the big deal?" Seth asked, adjusting his friend's clothes. They didn't have suits or anything fancy, but he at least tried to be presentable in a white button shirt and new trousers.
"What if something goes wrong? What if she realizes she's too good for me? I'll be a mess! I can't live without her!" David cried, throw in his hands in the air. Seth watched his friend with curiosity.
"Is this what I have to look forward to?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
David stopped pacing and looked at his friend strangely. "What?"
"The constant worry that something bad is going to happen. Is this what I'm gonna be like?" He asked rhetorically.
David planted his hands on his hips. "And just who do you plan on marrying?" He questioned, already knowing the answer.
Seth smiled. "Why, Ms. Turner of course."
David looked at his friend and sighed. "I'm not sure that's a wise decision, Seth." His friend just looked confused by his statement. "What are you gonna do when your father finds you and demands you marry that duchess, but you're already promised to marry, or married to Ms. Turner? Do you think he'll let that go?"
Seth looked at the floor. "I'm not going back. No matter what."
"What if he decides that Ms. Turner is a nuisance and needs to be taken care of, Seth?" David asked softly, Seth's eyes lit with rage.
"He will not harm her!" He shouted and clenched his fists tightly to keep from hitting his best friend. "I will protect her with my life, but I will not go back to that god forsaken house!"
David merely nodded and let it go. "Alright, Seth."
Seth walked over and parted his friend's shoulder. Calmly now he said; "Come on, let's go get you married."
The ceremony didn't last nearly as long Seth had thought it would. Then again, this wasn't a normal wedding. It was a peasant wedding, so a few words were said, the kiss, then all hell breaks loose. People were gathered in the center of town, dancing to the music of the band. A large fire right smack dab in the center of it all. Competitions took place, from the strongest man, to the prettiest woman. Everyone was having a grand old time. Seth walked among the people, noticing David and Mary dancing together, slowly, holding each other. While the song was fast and demanded partners switch often. Seth chuckled and made his way over to the blacksmith's shop, where maybe he could take a break from the activities. Many women had asked him for a dance, but he was looking for one woman and one woman only. He hadn't seen her anywhere, and to hide from the mob of women, he decided to take refuge in his boss's shop. As soon as the door closed behind him, he heard a feminine chuckle.
