×××It's been two weeks and Amity couldn't believe the progress she's made. Although her penmanship could use some work, everything else was okay. She was getting to be a better reader everyday, she could spell basic words and some harder ones as well. She was able to identify letters and their sounds, all thanks to Seth. She blushed when she thought of him, they had grown rather close over the past two weeks. While she was reading, he had the habit of playing with her hair, twirling it around his finger. At first it bothered her, but she grew to enjoy it and now it was just natural for the two of them. He sat extremely close to her while she practiced writing, that way if she messed up, he would take her hand and help her. But the thing they did the most when they met at night, was lay back in the grass an watch the stars. Often, his hand would find hers and hold it tight, but when he didn't reach out for her, she moved closer until he was able to wrap an arm around her and she could lay her head on his shoulder. They would then lay there for hours, sometimes they talked, others they just laid there until one of them fell alseep. Amity recalled his signature grin he gave her every time she was sounding out her words. He would laugh and tease her, but she knew he was not being mean. She enjoyed his playful banter.
Now as night falls again, the spring air finally making the night warmer, Amity stood from her hill and went to meet Seth at their spot. Oddly, she arrived before he did. She glanced around, searching for him, but she didn't see him.
Out of nowhere, she felt two arms wrap around her waist and lift her up into the air. She screamed as the arms twirled her around and something behind her laughed. She twisted in the person's grip, placing her hands over his arms.
"Seth! Put me down!" She shouted, though her tone wasn't very convincing. He set her down and she spun on her heels to glare at him. "What was that for?"
He just shrugged and sent her his signature grin. Amity nearly melted at the sight. "Why don't we do something different today?" He asked.
She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "What did you have in mind?"
He smiled widely at her and grabbed her hands in his. "Let's go swimming."
Her eyes widened an her mouth dropped. She knew she must look like a fish out of water, but she could not help it. Go swimming? With him? That was so improper! No woman would do such a thing where she could possibly be seen by others! She shook her head and tried to step away from him. "No! That's utterly indecent of you to suggest! I cannot-"
"Why?" He asked, placing his hands on his hips. Amity glared at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Seth! Are you daft? We cannot go swimming together! What if someone were to see us?" She hissed. He chuckled, that's what's she's worried about? He shook his head and began un-tucking his shirt and kept his eyes on her, watching as her face paled. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going swimming." He shrugged, pulling his shirt over his head. He began to undo his pants, forcing Amity's gaze away with a shamed blush on her cheeks. "You can join me or not." She couldn't see his face, but when she heard the splashing of water she knew that's where he was. She bit her lip, stealing a glance at him.
Oh lord, he really was a sight to behold. Since the last time she'd seen him shirtless, he's gotten more muscular. His arms were a bit thicker, she watched as his muscles rolled. She guessed that was a benefit of working as a blacksmith. She nibbled on her lip unsure of what to do. She found that she really did want to get in the water, but at the same time, she was worried. What if someone saw them? They would think the worst, especially of her.
She sighed, knowing her mind was all ready made up. She began to unlace the top layer of her dress and drag it off her body. She took off her stockings and shoes as well, tossing them aside hesitantly. Her hair hung loose around her shoulders, but she ached to put it up. But she couldn't, so it remained down. She looked at herself, wearing what she would consider summer night clothes. A blush broke out across her face. She couldn't believe what she was doing...
