Say no to clean rooms ..... or maybe not

It was a Sunday afternoon and Abby was told to clean her room because it was looking like a pigsty. Clothes and toys were everywhere not to mention every stuffed animal known to man laid everywhere but on her bed so it was safe to say that Gibbs wasn't quite happy about it and since she had school  tomorrow he wanted her to do something that was going to calm her down but of course she wasn't having it.

Poppa I don't want to clean my room is no fun.

Well little miss you have no choice I'm going to get dinner ready and I expect this room to be clean so that gives you an hour to get it all picked up.

I don't know how to tell time what an hour mean.

How about this do you see your alarm clock well when the time turns to 6:30 and right now it's 5:00 that when time will be up.

Hump fine I'll do it but it's still no fun

Yes I know little one but maybe next time you will keep your room a little more tidy. Now I'll be going downstairs to make dinner.

Oh and Abigail if your room isn't clean by the time I come up we're going to have a problem.

Poppa wanted me to clean my room but I didn't want to it was boring and I like my stuff we're it was so I'm not going to clean it and he can't make me.

While Gibbs was downstairs preparing dinner Abby was upstairs playing with some toys that were scattered around the floor she was so into playing that she didn't realize that the time was already 6:20 so when she looked up she panicked.

Oh no poppa's going to come here soon and my room is still a mess I wish I had powers that way I can make all this disappear.

I went downstairs to start dinner I really do hope Abby listens and cleans her room she's been doing good all week with following directions but today it seems like she wants to do her own thing which means her since if following any directions are going down the drain ever since she got up this morning she hasn't listen to a word I said and no amount of time out's are warnings will help. This time if she doesn't have her room clean then I'm afraid I will have no choice but to spank her so I'm hoping she cleans the room so we can have a peaceful afternoon but then again when I'm raising a 7 year old nothing is peaceful I love her to death but my child does not know when to give up.

I tried to clean but I didn't want too so I just did the next best thing hide if poppa can't see me maybe he'll think I left the room.

So 6:30 came around and dinner was done Gibbs made lasagna, salad, and some mixed fruit along with garlic bread and now all that was left to do was to get Abby so that means he needs to check her room.

As soon as I got to her room I just shook my head in aggravation all I saw was a messy room and no little 7 year old standing their looking guilty so I naturally assumed that she was in her closet that's were she likes to hide when she knows she's in trouble.

Abigail come here now!

Wait don't count yelled a little voice as Abby emerged from the closet.

This room looks actually like it did at 5:00 when I told you to clean it so ma'am what exactly have you been doing.

I'm sorry I just got bored and decided to play then I lost tract of time, why do I have to clean my room anyway it's not like anyone comes in here.

Sigh.... Abigail that is not the point when I tell you to do something it's for a reason this room is not only a mess but it's dangerous you could easily trip on something and hurt yourself or when you want a certain toy but you can't find it because there are tons of toys everywhere in this room are scattered about.

Well I didn't have enough time.

I gave you an hour which is more then enough time especially if you didn't stop to play with your toys but now since you decided to disobey me it seems like a spanking is fitting don't you.

No please I'll clean my room don't spank me poppa look I'm cleaning right now.

Abby started to pick up some stuffed animals off the ground but was stop in the process is Gibbs took hold of her wrist.

Yes young lady you will clean your room after you've had your dinner and a bath and off course after your spanking then you will clean your room and after that you will be going straight to bed.

But I wanted to play some more I don't want a spanking.

Well since you decided to play when you should've been cleaning your room you lose the privilege to play and an early bed time is what your going to be having now come along.

Gibbs held on to a crying little girl is they walked down stairs and all though dinner Abby ate and cried she did more crying then eating however it was to the point we're Gibbs knew she wasn't going to eat anymore so he got up and went to run her bath leaving a wailing 7 year old at the table.

I got the bath water running and went downstairs to collect Abby she was still crying I just shook my head I know if I let her off she was  going to run all over me so I have to stay strong and follow though with her punishment.

Waaaa that's not fair waaa I wanted to play sob stupid poppa.

After the bath which calmed her down a little he dried her off before leading a naked little girl downstairs were he opened the utensil drawer and pulled out a wooden spoon and once Abby saw that she started to jump up and down and cry all over again.

I needed her to calm down so I pulled up up to sit on my lap is I did that she buried her face into my shirt and kept wailing so I waited patiently for her to calm herself she finally tired herself out which I was grateful for then I started talking to her.

Abigail look at me please.

Poppa please d-don't spank me.

Abby tell me why you decided not to listen to me today.

I-I got bored I didn't want to clean cleaning is no fun I didn't mean to make you mad at me poppa.

Abigail when poppa tells you to do something that doesn't mean disobey me that means you need to do it right away. because all this could have been avoided if you would've cleaned your room but because you didn't obey me you have a consequence which means that you will be getting a spanking and an early bed time I'm sorry that your upset but I don't like doing this Abby I love you but I will not tolerate this disobedience next time you need to listen to me so I can keep you safe.

And with that he turned Abby over his knee and started spanking her with his hand.

Gibbs then picked up the spoon and paddled her bottom until it was a bright red which was only ten smack then he pulled the sobbing child to his chest and held her till her cries faded then he escorted her back to the room and help her into some pjs before watching as she cleaned her room which took about 15 minutes then her put her to bed.

I love you my little bat and never forget that tomorrow is a brand new day full of adventure I will always love you sweet dreams darling.
