A few days after that, I was walking around the castle, thinking about the job offer while Draco was in class. I found myself on the astronomy tower, looking over the grounds. I climbed on top of the edge and sat there, staring outside. I leaned against one of the pillars and breathed in deeply. I closed my eyes and just waited for an answer to come to me. I changed my appearance, my hair, my nails, everything just to entertain myself.
Three hours later, I couldn't take sitting here anymore.
"I'm going crazy." I groaned to myself.
"Why do you think that?" A voice asked behind me. I jumped and swung around to see Uncle Sirius and Uncle Remus.
"Thank you so much for the heart attack." I snapped at them before turning back around.
"Why do you think you're going crazy?"
"McGonagall offered me a job here at Hogwarts." I told them.
"Wait, actually??" Uncle Remus asked me as they approached.
"I'd be a potions Professor for the students who couldn't get into the advanced program after their OWL's. I have no clue what to do. I'd be more involved with what happens to the school, but what sucks is that I'd have to deal with my parents. They're gonna say I shouldn't be here. That it's too dangerous, that I'm not ready, that I'm too young. And a bunch of other shit I don't wanna hear."
"They're just trying to look after you." Remus reminded me.
"Well in case you've all forgotten, I haven't needed someone to look after me in years."
"Maybe that's your issue. You haven't had anyone to look after you so you shut out the people who used to." Sirius told me.
"I don't need looking after. I'm seventeen, I'm not a baby or a child anymore."
"You're still only a teenager." Remus said.
"What do you two know about teenagers? I mean honestly, it's been years sense you were one, you know nothing about teens now. Muggle or Wizard." I said, turning around and hopping off the ledge to stand in front of them.
"You guys like fun." Sirius told me.
"See my issue is, is what type of fun do you think we like?" I asked him sassily, popping my hip out to the right and crossing my arms.
"Any and all??" Remus took a guess.
"Eh!" I said obnoxiously like a buzzer. "Wrong!" I told them. "Teens don't like everything fun. Because what's fun to you two and what's fun to us is way different." I told them seriously.
"Oh yeah? What's fun to you?" Sirius asked me.
"Drinking."
"That's not good for you." Remus told me.
"See?? No fun. Next you're gonna tell me drugs are bad, right? That I shouldn't have sex until I'm older. All of that shit right? I know I'm right. Yet you wanted to do the same stuff when you were my age. See how the tables turn???"
"See, but now we know the dangers of doing those things. That's why we try to stop teens from doing them now, so they have a better life in the future."
"Are you saying your lives didn't turn out good??" I asked them, trying to catch them.
"Being teachers isn't exactly what we wanted to do." Remus admitted.
"But that doesn't mean your lives aren't good. And if you were teachers, you'd be teaching right now." I told them. Their eyes widened and they bolted making me sigh.
Later on, at dinner, I had actually made a decision. I was gonna take the offer. I slipped into the Great Hall, a little late. I headed to Professor McGonagall before I change my mind.
"Miss Potter, what can I help you with?"
"I accept your offer." I told her. Her eyes lit up.
"Really??"
"Yes, I'd like to speak with you about the terms of my agreement though."
"Of course. After dinner?" She asked me.
"Yes. That'll work. Thank you professor."
"You get to call me Minnie now." She smiled at me. My smile widened.
"I'll meet you in your office after dinner then Minnie." I headed off to Draco. I pecked his cheek as I sat down.
"What's got you so chipper?" Blaise asked me.
"I took the job offer." I told them with a smile.
"That's amazing." Draco praised, making me turn my head and his lips crash onto mine instead of on my cheek. He pulled away.
"If that's the reaction I get every time I have good news, maybe I should have more good news often." I whispered into his ear.
"Stop being a dork and eat. Remember what tomorrow is?"
"Our date, I haven't forgotten."
"Good." Draco nodded.
"I trust by now you've figured out what we're doing?" I asked him.
"I have. But I'm not telling." He smirked at me while I pouted.
"Come on, tell me." I begged.
"Nope. My lips are sealed." He told me playfully.
"Fine." I huffed, pouting more.
"This is borderline sulking and it's not okay considering the big day I have planned for tomorrow. Cheer up and eat." I ate, but I didn't really cheer up.
"You can be such a child." Draco chuckled as he walked me to Minnie's office.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him.
"Nothing. It just means that I want to give you hug, smoosh your cheeks together, and cuddle you."
"I'll take the hug right now. The cuddles later." I told him making him take me into his arms and hug me.
"You'll have an amazing time tomorrow, I promise." He told me before pecking my lips. "I'll see you in our dorm in a bit." I nodded with a small smile and was let right into Minnie's office, not needing a password. I knocked and heard her answer before I opened the door softly.
"Hello Miss Potter." She greeted me, motioning me to sit.
"Hi Minnie. So although I have accepted your offer, I do have a few conditions."
"You wish to have Mister Malfoy stay with you in your new quarters?" She guessed.
"Yes. Having Draco nearby every night just feels familiar and a lot of the rest of it isn't. I'd prefer to keep him nearby with me just incase. Also, strength in numbers."
"Of course. Professor Snape has already agreed to those circumstances."
"Okay. Good. Another thing, I don't want my parents to know anything, or my uncles, or my brother, just until everyone else knows. I also want to sit with the Slytherins during meals, not with the other professors."
"I figured as such." She nodded.
"And I only want half the salary."
"Oh?? Why only half??"
"My bank account is almost overflowing already. My one under my faux name that I'm switching back to my name. Gringotts is getting a teeny tiny bit overwhelmed with all of the coin."
"Oh. Only half then."
"Perfect. Thank you so much."
"Of course."
"I need to get back to Draco, I have a big day tomorrow. When will I start classes?"
"After Christmas break."
"Okay. That gives me plenty of time for planning lessons and making assignments."
"Good luck. I'll see you soon Miss Potter."
"Bye Minnie." I headed back to the dorms and to Draco. "Dray?" I called through the dorms.
"Be out in a minute!" He called. I sat on his bad after snapping my fingers to change. He came out and came over to me. "How'd the meeting with McGonagall go?"
"Good. I'm officially a teacher."
"That's great!" He hugged me after pulling me up so I was standing once again.
"I asked, and Snape already said it was okay, would you like to stay in my quarters with me? Your bed here will still be here if you need a break from me, but Minnie said you could. If you want to."
"Absolutely."
"Okay great! I'm so excited!"
"When do you start?"
"After the holidays." I smiled brightly. He gave me a smile too, giving me a soft kiss on my lips.
"Let's get to bed, okay?" He asked me softly. I nodded and we crawled into bed. "I really hope you're this excited for what I have planned for tomorrow."
"I am. This is a mixture excitement." I giggled. He shook his head with a fond smile.
"Go to sleep." I fell asleep not long after him, relaxing against him.
