Joe: did you move on from everything? (She bit her lip and nodded slowly)

Demi: yes, I moved on...didn't you move on too? (I gulped hard and nodded staring into her eyes)

Joe: I did

Demi: then, we're good

Joe: yes (she pointed to Willa's stuff and grabbed a big empty box)

Demi: there's another box there, help me pack all this so you can give it to your daughter

Joe: sure (I grabbed another box and she started packing the stuff while I just tried to man up to say what I really wanted to say to her) we're not good (I said in a thread of voice)

Demi: sorry, what? (She asked with a frown)

Joe: I said that we are not good, not yet

Demi: not yet?

Joe: I didn't move on. (Her jaw dropped a little and she stood up)

Demi: from exactly what?

Joe: from you, from everything that has to do with you...and I'm eternally sorry for what I did to you, I wish I would've stayed with you even when you told me not to

Demi: Joe, there's no need to do this. You're happy with your baby and I'm the happiest I've ever been. Whatever you're trying to tell me, just don't. We are perfect like this

Joe: no, we aren't (I said and put my hands on her waist softly)

Demi: J-Joe, what the fuck are you trying to do?

Joe: just hug you like I haven't done in years (I hugged her tightly to my body and she hesitated at first but wrapped her arms around my neck too, touching my neck with the tip of her nose as we both started to sob quietly)

Joe: I'm so glad God saved you that night, I'm so glad you're still alive Demi...I'd be dead without you

Demi: don't say that...I'm here, we both are here and I'll never be that stupid again

Joe: can you promise me something? (I asked cupping her face with my hands)

Demi: what?

Joe: promise me you won't cut me off your life again, I miss you

Demi: a-and I miss you too but my life...I don't know, everything in my life has changed a lot, I don't know if we fit right together anymore

Joe: I know we do

Demi: how can you be so sure?

Joe: let me prove you wrong. Let me show you we still can be friend, we'll always can. You're my angel, remember? You never left that spot for me. Give me a chance to show you that we can still work our friendship out

Demi: (she closed her eyes and nodded slightly) okay, I'll give you the chance

Joe: seriously? (She nodded and I smiled before kissing her forehead and hugging her close to my chest) thank you

Demi: shall we continue packing this stuff? (She pointed to the baby wardrobe and I bit my lip)

Joe: Willa is at my mom's, would you like to meet her?

Demi: like...right now? (I nodded and she smiled big) yes! Sure, just let me get ready and we can go

Joe: go ahead, I'll pack all this stuff while you get ready

Demi: yeah yeah (she left me alone while she went to change her clothes and I started packing everything until I found something between two sweaters)

Joe: what is this? (It was a paper with a quote written on it and it was a little blurry at the end. Like a tear blurried it)

You still hurt like the first time

It may have been stupid to think it was about me, but I did. After saving the paper in my pocket, I finished packing everything and waited for Demi downstairs with the boxes already in my car.

Demi: sorry for the waiting, I'm ready

Joe: it's okay (she smiled slightly at me and I gestured to the door) let's go

Demi: yeah

I drove us to my mom's house and it took us a while, like 30 minutes to be exact. I sighed when I parked on the street and glanced at Demi. She was playing with her hands.

Joe: what happened?

Demi: I'm nervous

Joe: don't be, she'll like you

Demi: I hope so (I smiled at hed and we walked out of the car to the door of the house)

Joe: now here we go (I rang the doorbell and we waited some seconds for my mom to open the door)

Denise: son, you're ba- (she looked at Demi and smiled slightly with a frown) Demi

Demi: hey, I know it's been a while (she nodded and I gestured to the house)

Joe: do you think we can go inside?

Denise: sure, sorry (we walked into the house and I saw my dad watching the sports' channel on his couch)

Joe: hey dad (he looked at me and his eyes opened widely)

Paul: Demi, hello (he walked to us and greeted us)

Demi: hello

Denise: what are you guys doing together and here? (Demi chuckled nervously)

Joe: this girl wants to meet Willa

Denise: that's awesome, I left her playing in her little house outside

Joe: okay, I'll go with Demi (we walked together to the backyard and saw a small house where someone was sitting with their back at us) sunshine! (I said loud enough for her to hear causing her to turn around)

Willa: daddy! (She stood up and ran to me)

Joe: hey princess, I'm back

Willa: yes (she hugged me and both Demi and I bent down to see her properly)

Joe: princess, she's Demi, a very good friend of mine

Willa: Demi? (I nodded and she smiled) hello Demi

Demi: hello baby girl (she grabbed her hand and glanced at me with teary eyes) do you think I can hug her?

Joe: ask her

Demi: Willa, would you give me a hug? (She nodded and hugged Demi tightly causing my heart to melt at the sight) you're so sweet, thank you (she whispered before pulling apart and drying her tears)

Willa: no (she said and dried Demi's tears)

Demi: oh my god...sorry, I won't cry anymore

Joe: go to play baby girl

Willa: kay daddy (she walked back to the house and I looked at Demi)

Joe: so?

Demi: she's just as wonderful as you are

Joe: umm I think we're going back home, do you wanna have dinner with us or...maybe you're busy

Demi: I'm not, sure I want to

Joe: alright
