NICK'S P.O.V.: I heard her loud and contagious laugh, and for the first time ever, it caused me nothing but anger. It had never been like this, since we met, her laughter has always caused me, at least, a smile. This was the first time something like this had happened to me.
I saw her glare at me briefly as I focused my gaze on the game, ignoring her presence and Luke's, her date tonight. I regretted agreeing to accompany her the moment he kissed her lips...I wished I had rejected her invitation but when she asked me to accompany her tonight, all I thought was that maybe it was safer if I went with her, just in case.
I saw out of the corner of my eye that Luke got up and went looking for food. He knew what was coming now, he knew her well enough not to know.
Demi: you want to tell me why the hell are you ignoring me?
Nick: I'm not ignoring you Demi, you're just not talking to me...all you do is talk to Luke
Demi: Okay, maybe it's true...he's my date tonight, I must pay attention to him so he knows I'm interested. Is there anything wrong with it? (I looked her in the eye and sighed)
Nick: no, there's nothing wrong with it...but don't expect me to always be looking at you and laughing at his jokes, which by the way are very bad, while you two are in a bubble, because I won't
Demi: Nick, why is Luke bothering you so much? He is a good boy and he is trying you to like him, you should be happy for me and try to be his friend as he is trying to be yours (I rolled my eyes and stared at her)
Nick: yes of course, be his friend...like you was with Olivia? I think it might work (her jaw fell when she heard me compare Luke to Olivia and she was going to tell me something but I stopped her, standing up from my seat) look, I saw that Luke is not dangerous, that's what I came here for. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd better sit somewhere else, I don't want to continue third wheeling
Demi: Nick, I don't want you to be alone
Nick: don't worry, everything is better than being here...believe me (I walked away from her and didn't see her all night long, I even avoided her when leaving the stadium)
He said goodbye to Luke as any couple would and we went together in the car to his house, where my parked car was.
Nick: well I guess that was it. Thank you, for the invitation, see you soon (I said and went to my car but she stopped me)
Demi: Nick, you're not going to leave so fast...nor dream that I will let you do it after your behavior today
Nick: you aren't my mom Demi, leave me alone
Demi: you aren't going to leave so easily after causing all that fuss (she said furiously and took the car keys from me)
Nick: are we going to do this now and here? In the middle of the street at midnight?
Demi: I don't care Nick, there is nobody around and you won't leave without giving me an explanation
Nick: (I raised my eyebrows at her) explanation of what?
Demi: why you acted like that tonight. You are always friendly, funny and talkative and tonight you did nothing but watch the game in silence and glared at Luke and me...I want to know why, that's all
Nick: is that all? I don't like Luke for you, I think he is too ... self-centered for someone like you and too big too...if we add to this that he is a fighter, then the pack "violent and dangerous boyfriend" is formed and excuse me, but that's not what I want for you
Demi: well first of all Luke is not violent and he would never hurt me. Secondly, you shouldn't mind Nick, because this is my life and I decide what to do with it
Nick: seriously? So why do you care so much about what I think about your dates and if I can't tolerate Luke? If it's your life, then go ahead with this...
Demi: oh, you are not interested then? (I shook my head)
Nick: not really (she nodded and walked to approach me)
Demi: If I didn't know you that well, I'd say you're jealous
Nick: (I laughed angrily and nodded) yes, sure...jealous. Why would I be jealous?
Demi: I don't know, you tell me
Nick: And anyway...what if I was jealous? It's none of your business (she raised her eyebrows at me)
Demi: well, if you were jealous it would be my business...because as far as I know, you don't like men, therefore, you don't like Luke (I rolled my eyes and took the keys from her hand)
Nick: don't ask me to talk about things when you were never able to say what really bothered you about Olivia
Demi: what? Now is it about her?
Nick: no, forget it, I'm going home Demi (I turned around and went to the car door but she followed me)
Demi: okay, you were right, you were always right. I didn't like Olivia because I was jealous (I turned to look at Demi and she snorted) I couldn't bear to see how she had your full attention when you were with friends, how you gave all your damn time to her no matter how selfishly she acted. I never liked her for you because she wasn't funny and was constantly trying to prove to the world that you belonged to her and were a kind of "trophy" for her
Nick: oh there it is...was it so hard to say that?
Demi: Well then, if you're so brave, why don't you tell me why you hate Luke?
Nick: enough Demi, leave it there...no need to go into details
Demi: damn shit, can you tell me things as they are for one fucking time?! (She said angrily and I smiled at seeing her like that. I couldn't resist the impulse that I've been trying to avoid for months and I kissed her abruptly, leaning her back against the door of my car so she couldn't escape)
A few seconds after kissing her, I pulled away from her and stared into her eyes.
Nick: I don't like Luke because I'm jealous of the way you laugh at his pointless jokes, which not even Alena would laugh at; I'm jealous that you look at him like you want to go to bed with him, how he can kiss you in front of everyone without any problem...I'm jealous Demi, because he doesn't deserve something as good as you (I wiped my mouth with displeasure as if I hated kissing her and she kissed me again in the same way that I did and then dried her mouth as I had done before)
Demi: that's all I wanted to know
Nick: well, if you'll excuse me...I must go to sleep
Demi: sure, see you soon
Nick: sure (I said with a smirk on my face and smiled when she winked at me before heading to her front door before I left the house)
