Hinata was bouncing back and forth excitedly in the equipment room, waiting for the signal from Washijō. He was looking forward to the reactions of his friends. "I bet they're gonna be super surprised!" he excitedly whispered to himself.

Squeaks of shoes on hardwood floors soon came, though muffled by the heavy metal doors of the room. He could hear some chattering, most likely that or his friends. His ear was on the door, trying to hear the conversation. It was hard, but he was able to make out what they were saying.

"There's a new first year student at school?" Shōyō recognized it to be Semi's voice.

"Oh, yeah! Aren't they in the advanced class... Uhmm.. 1..." Hinata heard Goshiki.

"1-E."

"Yeah!"

"Of course. How often is it that Shiratorizawa receives a new student in the middle of the first semester?" Semi asked, the exasperation evident in his voice.

"You have a point. That person must've been pretty influential to take the entrance exam!" exclaimed the first year.

"There are transfer exams. A lot harder than the typical entrance exams though. Has stuff on chemistry, physics, some basic calculus too," the third year deadpanned.

"And now it's my turn to contradict you. Chemistry and physics are pretty basic. Compared to the stuff people study for advanced in technology for space."

"Who the hell would even know astrophysics or astrochemistry at the age of 16?"

"That's what they're called," Goshiki murmured.

"Yes you idiot!" Hinata thought Semi sounded oddly like Shirabu at the moment.

"But science isn't the only thing on the entrance exams! There's history, math, and language on there too!"

"If you were listening, you would've known I already mentioned calculus."

"My point still stands," Goshiki retorted, stubborn.

"Ugh! I want to punch you right now!"

"Please don't!" squeaked the younger of the two.

"Please don't Semi-san, it would set a bad example for the younger ones," a new voice, much deeper, intruded into the conversation.

"What's got you so wound up Semi-kun?"

"Hello Satori," said the deeper voice.

Hinata realized, after pulling his head out of his...thoughts, that he had heard Ushijima and Tendō. "Come on Shōyō, now is not the time to... You need to focus on volleyball and right now. That is where your passion lies right now!"

"Ey, ey, ey!"

Hinata was starting to jump excitedly again, all previous, not volleyball, ideas out the window. "Cooooooooome oooooooooon!" he whispered dramatically, dragging the words out.

"So, you know we have a practice match with Tohoku University's volleyball team," the coach began. "So use this opportunity to play with our new team member, and win!"

There were noises of confusion at Washijō's announcement. "New team member? But wouldn't Hinata be jealous though?"

"Yeah! Speaking of, where is he?"

"I'm right here!" the ginger yelled as he came barrelling out of the storage room, wearing a practice jersey with the number 15 on it.

The team whipped their heads around the to face the young male, looks of confusion on their faces. That quickly morphed into confoundment as they realized their new teammate, along with the new overly smart student, was the energetic ball of orange coming at them full speed. Quite a few jaws dropped. And there they stood, for several minutes in plain shock.
