His internal clock was slowly ticking down to the moment of confrontation. How head swirled with a maelstrom of thoughts, panic, and determination. His body was pacing back and forth in front of the doors, letting his mind wander as his team attempted to get him to relax.
"Y'know I can't calm down, right?" the ginger asked, deadpanning to his teammates.
Shirabu let out an exasperated sigh. "He's right. The tension between us and Karasuno have spiked since the incident a few days ago."
"That's not the only reason," Shōyō replied.
"And the other would be?" Shirabu asked, silently urging Shōyō to let his stress out.
"Ya dumbass!" Shōyō retorted. "They're the ones who doubted me! So how the hell do you think they'll react when they see me in white and muted purple?"
"Muted purple?"
Hinata turned his gaze to Semi. "Maroon, grape juice, whatever. It's not blinding me or others, so it's 'muted'."
"Jeez," the other sighed, patting the ginger's shoulder. "You're tense."
Hinata shook his head in defeat, while batting away the elder's hand. "Well duh!"
"Shō-kun," Tendō pulled away from the door leading into the gymnasium. He placed a hand on each shoulder, softly rubbing them and tracing circles with his thumb, doing his best to alleviate some of the tension his boyfriend felt.
"Gomen, Tori-kun," Hinata sighed. "I snapped recently, so I don't know what to expect from today."
"It'll be fine. We will beat their asses on the court!" Tendō smiled in reply.
Shōyō turned to give the red-head a soft kiss on the cheek. "He has a point, we will beat those crows and show them that you are an amazing person."
Hinata looked up to make eye contact with Ushijima, and promptly became red when the words registered in his mind. "You always seem to know how to make me flustered Bakatoshi," the ginger grumbled. The older chuckled lightly, a sound soothing to both Tendō and Hinata.
"But I have to thank them."
A loud chorus of 'why?!' erupted from the group.
"Without them being stupid and judgemental, I wouldn't have found where I belong!"
A loud clap echoed through the hall, gaining the attention of the team as they turned their heads to the source of the sound. Coach Washijō approached them. "Alright snowflakes!" he called. "I know that you all know that Karasuno is out there by some miracle."
The room dropped a few degrees as everyone adopted an icy expression. Their gazes hardened, lips pinched and turned downward. Tendo growled as he wrapped his arms around Hinata protectively. The latter sunk backwards, leaning into the welcoming warmth of his boyfriend.
Washijo rolled his eyes at the display before continuing on. "And so, I only have three words." He paused letting silence surround them for added suspense. He smirked, "Give. Them. Hell."
Even the devil would be scared of the sadistic smiles that team wore.
Shoyo waited behind the doors as the rest of team entered the large gymnasium. He could head the roar of the crowd outside, their cheers deafening. His heart was roaring in his ears, excitement coursing through his veins.
"Today will be quite interesting," the announce spoke through the stadium speakers. "We have our favorite powerhouse team, and one that has steadily risen back from the abyss."
Hinata snickered as he imagined Kageyama and Tsukishima scowling at Shratorizawa blatantly being called the preferred team.
"And that isn't the only surprise today. Shiratorizawa has happened upon a very powerful asset recently," the other announcer added.
