"Max!" I shouted, running into his arms. His clothes were ripped and it was obvious he was bleeding. Mom and dad ran toward Max and pulled him away.

"We need to give him a shower." Mom said, unwrapping his clothes as I turned around.

"What - what happened?" I whispered, my back to them.

"A woman kidnapped him. We don't know why. And get this- the police won't tell us who it is!" Mom exclaimed, and I could hear her roll her eyes as she added , "his leg was broken, his forearm sprained. And gashes of broken skin EVERYWHERE. I'm never trusting these police officers again. They didn't do anything other than find him. It's like they didn't care!"

"I can't believe this! It's atrocious. And your brother he's in so much pain. And shock. We couldn't get many words out of him. We were so scared, and sad." Dad added , as I heard him grab a towel and wrap it around Max. I turned around

I examined Max, who was wrapped in a towel and clearly looked tired.

"You can talk to him later y/n. We need to let him shower and get clean. Both of you need rest." Dad said , rushing to the bathroom as Max and Mom followed him. I nodded my head and went to my room.

I sat near the bench by my window and looked out onto the midnight sky. I opened my phone and scrolled through my Instagram, ignoring the notifications on the corner of my phone.

I had gotten so many questions asking me if I was dating Louis. And it was annoying having to answer 'just friends!' Every time, so I had learned to just ignore and scroll.

I got a beep from my phone and saw it was a message from a group chat.
