After that everything was a haze. Jackson and Abraham lit more sticks on fire and they were all waving them in front of the leopards. Not that it would do anything to scare them.
Next thing I knew I heard Jackson telling us, " com on, let's go."
Mitch asks, "go? Go where?"
"I tagged one of the leopards with a glow stick. We can't track it. Where are the keys?" Jackson tells us.
Is he insane? They just killed Ray! And he wants to go after them?!?
"Jackson, Ray had the tranq gun. We don't have any weapons. We need a plan!" Abraham yells at Jackson.
"We have a plan, okay? This is it. We follow the leopards. That our best chance. What else do you guys want to go? You want to stay here and wait for them to come back? Come on." Jackson orders us.
He's right, this was our only chance. I needed to avenge my brother too. I had lost my whole team. This was my new team. And I don't care how much I hate them and are against their methods I will help them to the best of my ability.
As much as I wanted to move I couldn't. I was still frozen from shock. Everyone had grabbed their bags and now we're waiting on me.
I could feel silent tears streaming down my face but I couldn't do anything to stop them. I don't know how long I stood frozen to my spot until Mitch grabbed the knife out of my hand. He grabbed my back pack too. Then he took my hand and led me to the car where he helped me to sit in the back next to Jamie.
In the car Jackson continually points out the glow stick track to Abraham. The car is silent until Mitch speaks up.
"Maybe somebody should say something about him. Ray. I mean...nobody should die without words being spoken, right?" Mitch says. I could feel him looking at me.
I don't say anything but look up at Mitch. It was...touching that he was showing some kind of emotion. We lock eyes for a second and I look back down to my feet.
When I stay silent Abraham decides to speak, "Ray was...obnoxious, loud, and stubborn. But he was passionate. And he cared more about animals on this earth than any man I've ever met."
Maybe Abraham was really his friend. His words summed up my brother perfectly. Probably better than anything I would have said. Mitch nods to me showing his condolences.
"Looks like the trails run out. We lost him." Jackson tells us.
Mitch asks, " okay...team. What now."
"Let's make camp for the night. We can pick up the trail when it gets light out."Jackson instructs. Abraham pulls the car over and that exactly what we do.
I set up the tents. Laid out a sleeping bag. And laid down in the small tent. The guys decided it be best that Jamie and I share the tent as we were the only two girls.
Normally I would object but I was too exhausted, emotionally and physically. So I laid down and drifted off.
Dream:
I was flying my fighter jet at the head of the group. We were shooting and aiming at practice drones. The public doesn't know much about what we do because of the weapons we have. Our jets were the newest one created and had been modified to be quicker and more accurate.Ayden and Dominic were the next two in line, then following them were Eliza and Omar. We had been told to take down the bogey drone and that's what we were doing.
I had taken down two already when the drones started returning fire and flying in more complex patterns.
"I think we should split. I'll take the blue, Ayden Dominic take the yellow and Eliza and Omar take the green." I command my team.
