People were still so riled up about the whole ultron thing. Sovakia, robots, the Avengers. It didn't leave people's minds, and the dust hadn't cleared. People still blamed them for what had happened and that really irked you.

You watched as your dad finished his speech, his eyes settling to the prompt lines for a few seconds.
"So, go crack some eggs," he smiled, bowing slightly before walking off the stage. You thought it was strange, his smile faltered all because of a prompt line?
You stood from your seat as everyone else clapped, but you didn't leave. Ever since New York, your dad had been different. You all were. What made you angry, though, was that people attacked you for everything you did. Oh, you saved the planet? How dare you! People will never be satisfied.

You sighed angrily, sharply turning corners to get to the elevator. You really hated people sometimes.

"My son. He died in Sovakia, where you and your friends were."
You could hear someone, an angry someone. An angry someone talking to your dad. Not a good mix, he's sensitive, the smallest thing could trigger an anxiety attack. God, you hated people like this. Could they not just be grateful you all saved the world from the worlds destruction? You decided to listen for a bit and not say anything, if it got too much- then that's a different story.

You listened to her bullshit for a while, but tried your best to just stay calm and not say anything yet. But then she took it too far.

"You fight for only yourself, Stark. You're selfish. You push everyone away, and look how many lives it costed."

That really pissed you off.
"That.. bitch," you sneered, storming around the corner you were hiding behind.
She went to speak again, but you pushed in front of your dad and forced her back.
"I think that's enough out of you," you snarled with clenched fists, "I would absolutely love to see you stop a whole damn city from falling back on to the earth without killing everyone on it." Your voice was low and filled with rage, just how long would people keep this up?
"Who even are y-.." she paused and straightened herself, "you're that iron girl- ..prodigy? Is that what they call you?" She asked as you tried best to remain calm. You barely nodded, but you were losing your patience.
"You were the one who saved me during the New York attack.."
The avengers always joked and called you the "She Hulk", because once someone had angered you enough- you couldn't control it.

"Why are you defending him? You, see, you're a good hero, unlike him," you could tell she meant everything she was saying while she pointed at Tony, but that just made it worse. Your anger boiled over, that little statement made you feel anger you've never experienced.
You growled lowly and stepped forward, your hand being covered by the iron suit while the other grabbed her collar. You held your hand in front of her just wanting to blast her in the face.
You and Tony had worked on your watch so that only your hands can could suit up if you wanted- you have a bracelet on your other hand that does the same thing.

"Why you-"

"Easy, Stark," your dad gently spoke, softly gripping your shoulder. You looked back at him and stopped. You relaxed, lowering your hand but not letting go of her.
"Sorry," you whispered while you turned back to the lady.

"You wanna know why I'm defending him? Because we all fought for the same thing, and he is my father. Why does everyone focus on only him? If you're angry at him, you're angry at all of us," you almost yelled, "I don't think you know how it feels to be burdened with the title as the world's mightiest heroes. It's a lot to live up to, one screw up and you're the most horrible person to exist. When you save the world people put you down. We may not be able to prevent some destruction, but we can rebuild and replace that. We can't replace the earth. We put our life on the line for people like you, we know you have families. We can't bring back people and you know that, so tell me, would you rather the worlds total destruction or would you rather some unfortunate.. events," your voice trailed off towards the end, and she just stared at you.

"You're a Stark," she muttered. You blankly looked at her before yelling in frustration.
"Is that all you got out of that?!" Your hand rose in front of her face again, the blaster powering up and almost shooting her in the face- you grunted, and just before it shot you moved your hand slightly to the right and shot the wall behind her.
You looked back at her, your face baring the meanest glare she had seen. You were really upset.

"It's people like you that will cause much more damage than we have.. you'll tear us apart from the inside, then who will protect this planet?" Your tone was quiet but threatening, "I think we've established that the threats to this planet are much more than just bank robberies."

She just stared at you while she shook, now she was listening.
"I'm sorry your son died. I am. But you weren't the only one who lost someone. We lost a member of our team, he sacrificed himself for the sake of a family. He knew what it was like to lose family, and if it weren't for him- ..there probably wouldn't even be a planet here anymore," you trailed off again towards the end of your sentence. You took a deep breath to try calm yourself. She stayed quiet for a while, her eyes boring into yours until she spoke.

"You're wrong," she barely whispered. You chuckled, your grip on her collar tightening as your other hand rested on top of her heart.

"All right," you whispered, "you go out there, fight a bunch of aliens that are way above us. Risk your life, fight for our planet. Watch the people you love die!-"

"Sarah," your dad hushed. You sighed, lowering your hand again, still not letting go of her collar. Why were you wasting your energy on her? There was no point in this- it's like trying to talk to a brick wall. She won't understand. Not until she was in your position.
You shoved her back while letting go of her shirt, the metal covering your hand retracting back to the watch. You mumbled a quiet 'come on' to your father and grabbed him by the wrist, pulling him along with you.
You dragged him back down the hall and out a back exit, it avoided the paparazzi. You finally let go of him and huffed, pressing your fingers against your temples. You were so frustrated, angry, sad, confused- so many emotions were running through you that you could barely think.

For the first time, you broke down in front of your father.
"Ugh!" You grunted through gritted teeth as you grabbed fist fills of your hair and slid down the brick wall. Oh sobbed loudly and curled your head to your knees, you didn't care about your outfit. You were so angry.
"Oh, honey," you heard your dad mutter quietly as he walked towards you.
You were the only avenger who hadn't shown their feelings towards the pressure and hate, but now it was too much for you to keep in.

He kneeled down beside you and pulled you in for a comforting hug as he cradled your head against his chest.
"I'm- so sick of these- people.." you cried as you gripped his shirt, "why can't they just- be grateful, just once."

You heard your dad sigh as he rubbed your back soothingly.
"Oh, Stark.. I don't know," he exhaled as you pulled back and wiped your tears. You grunted again and punched the brick wall with all your might, causing your knuckles to bleed a bit.

"We do everything for them.. we've saved their planet multiple times. One day they won't have us and they'll be begging for our help again," you murmured, attempting to fix your hair. You took a deep breath and rubbed your knuckles to try smooth the pain as you turned back to your dad.

"Sorry you had to see me like that."

She shook his head. "Nonsense. You're my daughter, I'm glad your comfortable with me," he smiled as he opened his arms for a hug. You smiled up at him, tears once again gathering in your eyes. Not out of sadness, no. This time, out of gratitude. Happiness. You ran into his arms and smiled.
"I'm glad to be a Stark. I'm glad you're my father."

Peeking out of the door, the woman from the elevator watched with a shameful face. She was shocked. She wanted to run out, apologise for her disgusting behaviour towards them/ but she didn't. She had heard enough, and now she understood how much the world needed them. She turned to leave, but not before muttering the two words the avengers longed to hear.

"Thank you."
