Two days later...

"I'll see you later." Rick says, looking at me as he kisses my cheek, squeezing my hand, "I'll bring back a gift for you."

"Why?" I laughed.
"Just let me pwease." Rick frowned.
"Okay. I was teasing." I smiled.

He waved goodbye, the gates closing behind him as the worry sank in.

Of Negan got him, what would happen?
If he got bit?
Maybe if he?-

"Isabella?" I hear Daryl grumble coldly behind me.
"Hi Daryl." I turned around, snapped from my thoughts.

"Can you do me a favor?" He grumbled.
"What is it?" I asked.

He seemed uncomfortable for what he was going to say, chewing his lip he shifts his weight.

"Listen, Daryl. I can do anything for you." I smiled.
"... c-can you make me a scarf." He whispers.

I freeze, smiling, "totally."

It was getting cold, so I understand why he wants a scarf. But no need to act like being vulnerable is a crime.

-

"Isabella?" I hear Carol call from the front door.

"Yep?" I asked, noticing the sun going down.

"Can I come in? I made you somethin!" I hear her voice rise in pitch.

"Sure!" I smiled to myself.

She walks through the door, holding the small box in her small hands. "You'll like it!!"

"Come on Carol." I laughed. "Stop hiding it from me!"

She rolls her eyes, a warm smile on her face as she sat down next to me, handing me the box.

I laid the knitting yarn next to me, slowly sliding the box open:

It was a necklace.

"Open it," she smiled.

I slowly put my nails between the cracks of the necklace, opening it, my heart dropped.

It was a picture of Rick, Carl and I. "H-How'd you get this?" I asked, a smile creeping on my face. "Well, back at the jail. Glenn found a camera. When Carl first hugged you in front of Rick, he walked by, snapping a picture." She explained, "he wasn't sure if he was going to keep it or not. So he cut it to the size of the necklace, putting it in it he put it... in this box. Writing your name on it."

"Glenn did all that under my nose?" I sniffed, wiping the stray tears from my eyes.

"Yea. He was a smart boy." She smiled to herself. We sat in silence for a moment, I took in the picture, seeing young Carl and Rick. This was a good time.

"Let me help you." She smirked, sliding the necklace around my neck. "Isabella," Carol holds my hand, "Take care of Rick."

"I planned on it." I smiled, sniffing.
"And Carl." She nods, "Because you deserve each and every second of their love."

-
Two days later...

"Wheres Rick?" I asked frantically, seeing a sweaty Abraham and worn out Sasha.
"H-He broke off." Sasha wheezed, "A horde passed through. Rick took the RV and drove to safety and we frantically drove the other way." Abraham nods.

"Rick wouldn't leave you guys without warning, maybe something else happened on his end?" Michonne chimes in, "When did you last walkie him."

"Maybe ten minutes ago?" Sasha says, Carl handing her a bottle of water. "He disconnected."

My heart drops, "I'm going after him."

"No you are not." Michonne says, looking aggravated, "You worry too much. Maybe step back on this one."

I laughed, "Rick is missing."
"So?" Michonne glared, "You can last a little while without him."

But the worry makes my chest tight, makes me suffocate. "Please?" I begged.

"You sound like a child." Michonne says, "Stay here or I'll force you."

I blinked, why so aggressive? "Alright." I nod hesitantly, "Get him back by tonight, please."

A horde.

Huge.

Horde.

I shot down 8 guys, not sure if it's Negans or not. They came after me. I had to shoot them, now we're screwed on his side.

I frantically check the ammo in the gun I used, noticing no bullets left I mentally freak out. Cursing under my breath.

I grab the keys to the RV. Freezing when I hear distant growls, maybe 30-40 feet away.

"Come on!" I growled quietly, shoving the keys into the RV it refused to start. This can't happen. I have to get back.

My adrenaline is pumping, yet my stamina is at the lowest it's been in awhile. I can't make it back to Alexandria. It's miles away.

I can't ditch the RV either.

It's too painful.

I drop all my guns, sliding my revolver into its holster I look into the side mirror.

I have to go, now.

With panic slowly creeping in the back of my mind, I make a run for it.

I start my jog slowly, looking around me and behind me to make sure if there is a good distance. Which there was. At the start.

As I got a mile away, I already started to get dragged down. It wasn't fully the fact I was slow. But because I had waisted my energy on the men and driving from the horde.

The growls grew closer. I've got to continue. I've got to push myself.

I wheezed, pain running up my sides.

I've got to run.

For Alexandria. For Carl. For Judith. And for Isabella.

They need me.

Adapt. We have too. This is the world.

The thought continued eating at me, I have full faith in Rick. But everything that could happen keeps the anxiety in my chest not only creeping up my neck. But making me feel faint.

"Isabella." Daryl calls.
"Yea?" I took a deep breath, collecting myself.
"Did you... make it?" He asks.
I smiled warmly, handing him the scarf as he shoved it in his coat, "I made it thick and warm. Hope it keeps you satisfied." I smiled.

"Anyway, what's with the 'talking to me more'?" I cocked my head. "I'm not irritated or anything. Just confused, a little."

He chews his lip, shrugging. "Just felt like you needed someone to talk too."

I feel my chest get warm, smiling at him, "Thanks, Daryl. I mean it."

"OPEN THE GATES!! OPEN THE GATES!!"

Ricks voice was distant down the street. But it was loud and clear.

I gasp. Daryls eyes shifting to the gate I grabbed his hand, running to the gate.

Him and I threw the gate open just in time. Rick stumbled in, panting like a dog on a hot day. Falling on us.

"TAKE THEM OUT!" I yelled, referencing to the walkers. Rick holding onto us for his life.

"I-I..." Rick wheezes, dripping sweat.
I hold his head supportingly, Daryl grabbing his arm as we help him to Denises medical center.
"Don't talk, just... focus on breathing." Daryl spoke.

"Your safe now." I whispered, "Your going to be okay."
