Chapter 5: Meeting Her Kidnappers
Cold.
All AnnaLee could feel around her was bone-chilling coldness.
What was going on?
The young woman knew the only way to find out was to face her fear and open her eyes.
AnnaLee could tell that she was slumped over in a chair. The wolf men must have set her unconscious form there.
She knew that her captors were still in attendance, waiting for her to find consciousness. AnnaLee could hear them with her. She was scared out of her witts, and yet, at the same time, felt safe within their company. AnnaLee found this quite unsettling, for she had not even met these men. She had not even seen their faces, except for the one that covered her mouth before she fell into a deep sleep. Why couldn't he have lead her to the road, just like what happened to her grandpa?
"Alright, play time is over. Open your eyes, girlie. I can hear your heart rate increase, therefore you are awake." a man with a thick Russian accent was heard.
AnnaLee slowly opened her eyes to find herself sitting in front of a steel table. Two pairs of beautiful eyes looked back at her. One pair, she recognized as the man that she assumed brought her here.
"Who are you?" Another asked, his accent just as thick.
AnnaLee's eyes widened. Surely she should be the one asking the questions here. Nevertheless, she stuttered out, "A-Anna. My name is Anna."
"Well, Anna. What business do you have with us? Surely, it must be of some importance if you were willing to risk your neck to cross into our territory. Hmm?" The man who brought her here pulled out a dagger as he spoke. Twisting the tip into the table.
AnnaLee's mouth went dry. She had never been exposed to weapons.
"I don't understand." She whispered truthfully, looking up at the man with the dagger.
"Lzhets!" The man shouted.
AnnaLee was studying four different languages in college. Russian being one of them, so she knew full well the man had called her a liar.
AnnaLee jumped at the sound of his accusing insult, as she looked at him with wide, fearful eyes.
Just as she did, the man stilled beneath her gaze, giving her a puzzled look.
Valentin didn't know why, but when he saw the fear in the girl's eyes, he felt nothing but guilt and shame for being the cause.
Pushing that aside, he continued doing his job.
"You have one last chance to tell us who sent you and what your angle is before I cut out that pretty little neck of yours."
The man's threat scared AnnaLee even more. She was not used to this type of treatment. She would give him anything to let her free but she didn't know what he wanted. Nothing was making sense. Anxiety filled AnnaLee and she suddenly didn't feel comfortable in her seat anymore. When she tried to squirm, she realized her hand was cuffed to the seat.
"Let me out of here, please. I don't want anything from you." She choked out. AnnaLee was becoming increasingly scared by the minute.
"Boris!" Valentin turned to the other man in the room. "Go get Beta Koloff. Tell him," He turns back to look at AnnaLee before continuing in Russian, "U nas yest' zhenskiy izgoyev i nuzhno yego mneniye o tom, chto sleduyet predprinyat' " (we have a female rogue and need his opinion on what action to take.- Russian)
