Chapter 14: Finding Us
Anna felt so stupid. She had ruined things yet again.
Her relationship with Maks was already basically nonexistent. She knew should have kept her mouth shut.
Maksim ran away from her, probably angry.
She had been lying on her bed for the last few hours thinking, unable to fall asleep.
If only she would have explained further.
Anna had only one boyfriend in her whole life and she most definitely did not 'get around'.
Her only relationship had been with her best friend, and had ended horribly.
Suddenly, AnnaLee heard the door squeak open.
Glancing over at the clock, she could see that it was four in the morning.
Had Maksim finally returned to her?
Leaning over, Anna swiftly switched the lamp on, preparing herself to be consumed by his rage.
Instead, she was consumed by her own emotions.
Maksim looked an awful mess, bloodied and bruised from head to toe.
Leaping up, the girl ran to aide him.
"Maks, are you ok? What happened?" Anna questioned with concern, as she lifted his heavy arm around her neck, hoping to bear some of his weight.
Maksim just looked at the silly girl. What was she going on about, now? He certainly didn't look that beat up, did he?
Leaning over, he saw his reflection in the mirror that clung to his indigo wall.
He admitted to himself that his appearance was none other than gruesome. He looked worse than he felt. Perhaps he had overdone it.
When the Alpha refused to move, Anna became increasingly upset. She feared something horrible had happened.
Maksim's hair was tangled. His entire body was being covered in blood, as it seeped through his disheveled clothes.
Anna pinpointed wounds everywhere, some timid, while others were more threatening.
She decided to ask again, but this time, didn't try to hide her panic.
"What happened to you?"
When Maks gave no reply, Anna grabbed his hands in her's, causing him to stare at her intensely.
"I had Oli organize a few fights for me." Came his reluctant answer.
"At such a late hour?" Anna asked, bewildered.
"It's early morning. Most are already awake. We don't need much sleep." Maksim gave as a reply, to which she frowned.
He really wanted to tell her how she had driven his inner wolf off the deep end, but refrained himself. He could feel his control coming back, assuming the fighting had done it's job.
Releasing himself from her grasp, Maksim made his way to the makeshift bed he had set up earlier. He was happier with space between them. He couldn't breathe, much less think with those tiny little fingers wrapped around his wrist.
"At least take the bed." He heard her say, seeming upset by something.
When he made no move to get off the chair, Anna went into the bathroom, as if she was on a mission.
