~Dorothy Sawdon~It was raining.
I got to school all damp and sleepy, along with Rachel who was snoozing on my shoulder as we walked. Normally, I would have yelled at her to get off but she smelt wonderful and I wanted her near me.
That turned around when I saw Jordan heading towards us. I sent Rachel hurling into a locker and made for Jordan a bit down the hall.
"Hey" I said, panting a bit and wringing my hair dry or at least trying to.
"Hello" she said cautiously, watching the way I was smiling and behaving like I was crazy. "What's got you all high in the sky?".
"Oh, uh, nothing" I said, adjusting my bag strap on my shoulder and walking with her to our shared biology class. "Just had a good morning".
"You never have a good morning and I know that glow, you're fucking someone" she said, feeling almighty and showing it.
"You have no idea how wrong you are" I said plainly as we entered the classroom, a few of the first to get there. She just shrugged, taking gum out of the pocket of her windbreaker and throwing me some.
"So then why are you so smiley?" she asked.
"Like I said, nothing" she didn't believe me and was about to ask again but then the usual flood poured in and she shut up. Rachel didn't have this class, thank god because being around her without going wild with imagination was becoming increasingly hard but someone else did have this class, two people actually. One was Haley, the girl from GSA* and the other was Ryan, Rachel's best friend who immediately locked eyes with me when he came in.
He looked like he had something to say and I was lucky Jordan didn't see, too engrossed in her phone. I nearly popped my eyes from their sockets when her went to the seat at the other side of me. Jordan noticed this too and was intent on watching with wild eyes.
"Hey" he said, scooting closer by to me. I retracted in on myself.
"Hi" I said, tucking a hair behind my ear and giving him a look that said, not in front of her. He nodded and got out a note book, taking a pen and beginning to scribble down on it quickly.
He gave the paper to me
'I need to talk to you'.
I ripped it and wrote one back. 'I knew that much'.
I looked to Jordan who had an eyebrow raised, chewing her gum sassily. "What?"
"You have a pimple" I said plainly.
"WHAT!?" she screeched, getting up quickly just as our biology teacher, Mrs Qadri walked in. The woman looked at her, scandalized.
"Er, right there on your nose. It's huge". I said with a shrug and that sent her hurtling out of the classroom, almost knocking Mrs Qadri down and wailing as she did.
Ryan was laughing when I turned back to him and I joined in, excused by the fact that Mrs Qadri looked far from recovering from Jordan's harrasment.
"You're something, Dorothy" he said through snigger and I smiled, taking the compliment. "No wonder Rachel feel how she does about you" he said and I felt my body warm from its core, even without knowing what he meant.
"Wh-what?" I asked, my cheeks hot.
"Oh, erm" he said. "You do realise that my friend is madly I love with you, right?" he asked, looking at me as if it was the most obvious thing ever.
"Er...".
"She said not to say a string but, I just couldn't. She won't stop talking about you and she even scribbled your name all over her homework once, just thought it's best if you knew" he told me. "I don't know exactly how you feel about her but I've never seen he like this about a girl before" he smiled, "Just thank you".
I pursed my lips, feeling like I had become a hot air balloon and like I wanted to scream. The class was happening around us and I could only nod vaguely at Ryan. I didn't say a thing but he seemed satisfied with what he'd told me, gathering his stuff when the period was finally over.
"Bye, Dorothy" he said, waving slightly.
"Bye" I whispered, still glued to my seat. I noticed that Jordan hadn't returned when he left but I only had about half a second to think about that as a girl with familiar caramel hair came up to me when is stood, putting my stuff away in my bag.
"Hi" she was practically beet red and dj ked away with a squeak before running out of the class. I felt like I had been hit with a whirl of wind but that had nothing to do with Haley.
It had everything to do with Rachel.
Rachel Jones, the Rachel Jones was madly in love with me. And I with her.
