~Dorothy Sawdon~

"Sal's?" I asked, taking the helmet off and looking up at the neon sign of the relatively small restaurant.

She smiled at me, nodding once, "Yup"

She didn't say anything else as she entered, waving at a woman who sat at the counter, ticking her pen with her thumb as she watched the nearly full restaurant idly. She grinned at Rachel, getting up and heading toward us.

As she got closer, I began to see that she looked like Rachel. A lot like Rachel but definitely too young to be her mother. She looked like she was 20.

"Rae!" she exclaimed, coming over to us and engulfing Rachel in a hug. Rachel limply stood there, not able to return the hug because the woman had her arms locked in the embrace.

"Um, Ronnie, can't breathe" Rachel choked out, the woman, Ronnie, immediately letting her go and muttering a sorry. "It's fine, can you get us a table"

"Sure thing" she beamed, her gaze soon travelling to me. Her smile widened. "Hello, there..."

"Dorothy" I answered.

"Dorothy. Cute name" she said, making me blush. "Well, as you may I've heard, I'm Ronnie" she swung her arm over Rachel's shoulder, "Rae's sister"

That explained it.

Rachel rolled her eyes, shrugging her sister's hand off. "How about that table?"

Ronnie frowned at Rachel, using two of her fingers to push her forehead away. "I'm speaking to Dorothy" she said. "So, Rachel here will not stop talking about you to me, she even scribble your name on-"

"Okay!... Let's go eat before we end up being late" she glared at Ronnie. We both giggled. Ronnie gave me a soldier's salute and a wink before turning, ushering us to a table by a window and handing us menus.

"Get us the usual, we haven't got much time" Rachel told her sister, making me roll my eyes.

"You could have just not brought me here during school hours" I said in a duh tone as Ronnie took her leave heading over to the counter and bending over to give our orders to the cooks.

"Oh, you'll be thanking me for bringing you here very soon" she rubbed her hands together in a way than made me grimace slightly.

"So..." I trailed on, preparing to pry. "Why do you live all alone when you've got an older sister?"

She sighed, folding her arms behind her head as she leaned back into her chair. "It's a long story"

"I wouldn't mind hearing it" I mumbled, looking down at my fingers. She didn't seem to hear me, either that or she pretended not to.

Ronnie brought the food over soon, setting it down and hitting Rachel with a straw before she looked back at me, eyes fleeting over me. She smiled once more before she left, going over to serve more people since the place was becoming packed sooner.

I looked down at my plate and found a seemingly simple double burger and fries, with a chocolate milkshake sitting next to it. I raised a brow at Rachel, folding my arms as I looked at her. She was already digging into her food, biting the burger like her life depended on it and making me laugh quietly.

She looked up at me, a piece of lettuce sticking out from the side of her mouth. I bursted out laughing.

"What?" she asked with her mouth full, reaching over for a napkin and wiping at her face. I smiled.

"Oh, nothing" I said, picking up a fry and throwing it in my mouth. It tasted a lot more natural than your usual fast food franchise fries, I'd give it that. I began to eat too, but mostly smeaking glances Rachel ho glared at me whenever she caught me, making me laugh all over again.

"Ew, you're dipping your fries in the milkshake" she made a face, sticking her tongue out in disgust. I shook my head at her childlike behaviour.

"You're eating like a cave woman but you don't see me complaining, now do you?" I said, smirking. She rolled her eyes, finishing up on her food and then pushing the plate away when she was done.

Since I was taking a little longer to finish up, she began to complain, saying I ate too slow or just plainly groaned obnoxiously so that the people walking past us would glare our way, making me embarrassed and angered at the same time.

I finished up and just as Ronnie returned, grin plastered on her face when she did.

She shoved a bill in Rachel's face, smiling at me as she did so in a way that made me slightly weirded out but in a good, funny way.

"No way you're making me pay, Ro, I'm your sister!" Rachel pouted at Ronnie who rolled her eyes.

"You're paying, asshat" she said sternly, still not facing Rachel but  instead packing up our dishes. "Bring it during your shift".

Rachel groaned but agreed nonetheless, urging me to get up if I didn't want to be late for my next period. I waved a goodbye to Ronnie who waved back and pulled Rachel, whispering something I couldn't make out to her that made Rachel nudge her. Ronnie laughed before walking away.

"Let's go" Rachel said, walking past me and heading out of the place. I followed after her with a roll of my eyes.

When I got over to the bike, clamping my arms around Rachel's waist, I felt her tense up but then she relaxed, releasing a heavy breath before driving off back to the school.

I let my head rest on the her back, on her oh-so-cliché leather jacket, inhaling her woody scent and subconsciously sniffing to get more of it. It smelt like rain-damp pines and vanilla and everything I never knew I wanted to smell.

I liked it.

I liked everything about Rachel.

And even if I denied it to everyone and myself, I liked Rachel Jones.
