You hummed along to the music, content in the arms of your lover.
"I love this song," you sighed, staring up into their eyes, dark as the night sky and glistening with starlight.
"I know you do," they laughed, twirling you around before you flew back into their embrace. "You only tell me every night."
Utter, perfect happiness. Utter, perfect peace.
"Do you know," you murmured, closing your eyes. "That I would die to be with you?"
"Yes," they whispered into your hair. "You tell me that every night, too."

Your sister sighed, watching your form spin and sway in the ballroom, illuminated by the night sky and its stars, utterly alone. You had been inconsolable after your lover's death all those years ago, refusing to leave the home you had once shared. The garden and the surrounding forest had begun to creep up, slowly but surely covering the walls in thickening foliage, leaving your sister the only one who could find their way in.
You had lost your love.
And she - well, she had lost you.
