Wes was involved.
He headed to the hospital and there he saw Mew awake with Wes sitting next to him. Wes stood up startled at seeing his friend coming in without telling him first. "I was about to call you to tell you he woke up." He gave an excuse.
Kanawut looked at Wes' wrist and saw no bracelet. His face went white with disbelief.
"W-Where is your bracelet?" He stuttered, voice cracking.
Wes looked at his wrist and realized that his bracelet was gone.
"Oh I went home earlier and took a bath. Must've left it there." Kanawut stared intensely at Wes trying to connect Wes to the crimes.
"What's going on? What bracelet?" Mew asked looking at the suspecting detective.
"You haven't seen yours? I put it on your wrist."
Mew brought out his hands and there was no bracelet. Kanawut looked at both of them as he realized the missing piece to the puzzle. He looked at both of them face full of betrayal. He couldn't believe it. These two people were connected. These people had been behind everything going on. No wonder they didn't have any evidence.
Because the police were involved.
Because Wes was involved.
He staggered backwards looking from Mew to Wes, his mind failing to comprehend what was happening even after figuring it out. He left the room in a rush and Wes was on his heels.
Just after he exited the building he felt his hand being grabbed and he almost fell. He turned around angry and was face to face with a confused Wes.
"What's going on?" He asked the troubled detective.
"Rem was found dead this morning." Kanawut said trying not to miss every reaction from his partner.
"Oh I didn't know. No one told me." He answered staring straight up at Kanawut.
"When did he wake up?" Kanawut asked not really curious about Mew.
"A few hours ago. Why? What's happening?" Wes kept on asking seeming oblivious.
"Why?" Kanawut sighed disappointed. "Why are you doing this?"
"What are you talking about?" Wes kept on playing dumb.
"You and Mew are doing this,"
"What?"
The surprised reaction did not move the heartbroken detective.
"You lost your bracelet at the scene. When you were busy killing Rem, your bracelet slipped off and you didn't notice."
"How are you so sure it was me."
Kanawut looked at him Wes speechless, tears welling in his eyes. He felt betrayed.
He fought the tears but lost the fight, "That's not what you're supposed to say Wes." He was struggling clearly. He was having a hard time swallowing the fact that his friend was a murderer. That his partner in law was killing people.
"What am I supposed to say?" Wes asked not really seeming bothered.
"You are supposed to insist that it was not you. You're supposed to stick to your story that you left it home." More tears kept on coming sliding down the brave detective's face. "You are a detective Wes. You're supposed to be protecting people and not killing them."
"It could have been Mew when I went to take a shower. He could've slipped out of he hospital like he always does." He tried pinning it to Mew but he was not aware.
"He couldn't have."
Wes looked at him surprised, "why are you so sure?"
"I was watching him all night. I put a live cam in his room and he never left his bed all night."
Wes realized then that he was busted, "I didn't do it," he tried.
"It's too late for that." He wiped the tears away, "I'm going to the station to verify the bracelet I gave to you. If it is really it then I'm reporting it to the captain. I'm sorry but I have to do this."
Kanawut didn't wait for Wes' reply and walked away. He broke down in his car. He felt betrayed by two people he relied on. Well he didn't rely on Mew but he totally did on Wes. He was his partner. His bestfriend. As soon as he got to the station he rushed inside and looked for the bracelet.
"Where is it?" He asked no one in particular but his high voice got everyone's attention.
"What are you looking for?" The captain came out from his office when he heard Kanawut's loud voice.
"The evidence from the forensics?"
"Oh it's in the evidence room."
He didn't wait any second and ran to the said room. He got in and saw the forensic box on the table. He breathed out his heart pounding. He opened the box and saw plastics but that was all there was.
He turned the box upside down but still there was no sight of the bracelet. He looked again and when he saw nothing he called Joy,
"Are you sure they delivered it?"
"Yes, they did. Your captain signed the handover form."
"It's not here."
"What are you talking about?"
Kanawut threw himself against the wall. Exhausted.
"Someone took it." He said and his hand lost energy. He managed to grip his phone from falling and sat down. Wes couldn't have taken that bracelet.
Then it meant there was another person involved.
He grabbed his hair frustrated.
Just where was this going?
When was it going to end?
