Tutor groaned a little as he slowly opened his eyes and sat up in his bed, looking still half asleep. As he was not used to the small size of his bed in his family's house anymore, he had kept tossing and turning during the night and did not really feel like he had rested properly from his long trip in bus to the country side of the day before. He screwed his eyes up and drew the curtains of his small, poorly furnished room to observe a landscape which, despite its somehow reassuring familiarity, made him a rather strange impression.
He had been away from quite a long time, and all he could say was that being back here now, in such a calm place and relaxed atmosphere in the country side had definitely nothing to do with the bustle of the streets that usually woke him up in the condo he rented for his studies. The rent he could pay thanks to the money he earned during his part-time job at the coffee shop, in addition to his tutoring activities, for students who were besides less and less numerous as time passed. Unfortunately, he did not earn as much as he would like, in fact, since he only had the possibility to work once his classes were over, which could be already exhausting enough when it was repeated every day by the way. Nevertheless, the good sales his employer at the coffee shop had made during the Christmas period happened to somehow give Tutor's finances a boost.
Therefore, in addition to the money he had saved, what he got during his latest days of work was more than enough to make this family reunion he had long waited possible.
This year, unlike some others before, he had brought presents for everyone and could even give quite a nice amount of his savings to his mum, who had always struggling financially because of Tutor's father's numerous debts, that kept making their life hard even years after.
Fortunately, things were slowly but surely getting better with time. Like everything, Tutor thought. Like his conflicting relationship with his senior Fighter, for instance.
This one had taken an even more unexpected turn eventually. The young man half-smiled, remembering how the two of them used to quarrel in the past, even about the most futile things. They did not even need to open the mouth, the simple view of the other was just unbearable for each. And Tutor had ended up believing that this awkward situation would last forever between his senior and him. In his life, he had not had much luck before and thought that it would probably always be the case. He was kind of resigned regarding that idea.
But, one day, tables could turn. This is what he actually experienced when he was least expecting it. And he could only testify that he was more than satisfied to be where he was now. A lot more than he had ever wished. Even when he was a child, living a simple life with his parents and sister, all innocently, he had never been as happy as he was today.
Tutor let out a sigh as he continued to look out of the window with a feeling of nostalgia, being reminded of his young years at the time when his relationship with his father was still going well, before he turned to leave his room and go down by the stairs as a nice sweet scent reached his nose, giving him the signal that the breakfast would be ready soon.
Having his mother and sister with him for a meal like that would not sound much probably for many people. But for him, it did. Of course, since Fighter had come into his life, he was feeling less lonely than at the time when he had arrived in Bangkok. But he could nonetheless not hide the fact that these kinds of moments spent while his family members were hardly replaceable. Really, he had missed them a lot. And the smile his sister, Tong, gave him when she saw him stick his head out of the kitchen's door only made his heart feel even warmer.
"Tutor, you are here already? You could've slept longer, you know."
