I'm going insane. I swear I'm going insane. I never skip school, ever. And here I am, planning an elaborate run away. I pulled out my phone to check the time which was 1:00 AM. Abby shouldn't be asleep yet, she never goes to sleep early. I hit the call button. Abby answered after two rings.
"Stella it's like 1AM what's up?" her groggy voice filled my car.
"Senior skip day, or week, is coming early this year." I replied.
"What?" She questioned.
"Be ready, get packed, I'll be at your house in 10 minutes." I smiled and hung up the phone.
I stopped at a red light and began to text Aly.
Stella: Hey, I won't be at school tomorrow or a couple of more days. no questions asked. just if my mom asks if I'm staying with you, then say yes. love you. see you later when I'm not insane.
Aly: I'm too tired to ask what this is about. okay.
I sped up and hurriedly drove to Abby's house. This was going to be amazing. As I drove to her house I realized how insane this all was. I can't just run away for a week to some random place during the first week of school my senior year. Or maybe I could. No one was stopping me. Why should I stop myself? It's my senior year and I'm going to live it to the max. So cliché of me. How was I going to do this? Go to a party tonight, I had connections I mean I live like 30 minutes from Panama City beach there is always some parties going on, then what? live in the car and just explore? what about showers and such? I can rent a motel room I guess, sound like a good plan to me. Between the money I had in my savings and leftover from summer and Abby's money we should be able to get through easily. This was going to be amazing. I stopped at the gas station to fuel up my gas and get some food before going to her house. I walked into the poorly cleaned gas station and waked towards the drinks to get a Arizona Tea.
"Stella!" I heard someone's voice say. It was a familiar voice. One I didn't like to hear.
I turned around. "Colby." I greeted.
"What are you doing here this late?" he asked stepping closer.
"Um... I was babysitting late tonight and I was just on my way home." I shut the door to the drinks after getting one and walked towards the counter before being stopped by Colby.
"No girl like you should ever just be walking around alone at night." He smirked grabbing my waist and pulling me closer.
"I'd rather be alone then spend any time with you." I spat, "Now quit touching me." I shimmied out of his grasp just to be grabbed once again.
"Jake isn't here to stop me." He grinned devilishly.
"DUDE. I have to work the late shift tonight and I'm NOT in the mood for your shit okay. Leave her alone before I kick you out myself." The kid behind the counter spat at Colby, causing him to let me go and leave, without buying anything.
"Thanks," I said approaching the counter, "I needed that."
"Don't mention it. He seemed pretty awful anyway." He rang up my item. The boy looked to be in his twenties. He had saggy blonde hair and a surfer dude look to him.
I thanked him once again and walked out. I immediately started the car and drove to Abby's house, which I was at in minutes.
I knocked on her window, which was on the side of her house on the first floor. She stood up packing and opened the window.
"Can you tell me what's going on?" She continued putting clothes in her suitcase.
"Yeah, by the way bring a bathing suit. and listen, you know how when your world falls apart you kind of go insane? well that's my life right now!" I smiled.
