—————THE NEXT DAY STARTED, and the couple were up and at it. Another day the two were looking forward to. As Veronica jumped out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her she rushed into their shared bedroom carrying a bunch of clothes, as Johnny shoved a few pairs of shirts into his duffle bag. "Hey, Babe." She started, getting Johnny's attention. "I can't make it to your class today, but I can still meet you after to accompany you to the hardware store for the mirror replacement." She said with a smile. "Yeah, that's totally fine." He gave her a small smile, but it quickly faltered, obviously something else on his mind. Veronica immediately noticed this and held her arm out towards him. "Are you okay?" She said, suddenly serious. Johnny nodded. "Just thinking about a lot right now." 'Robby and Miguel mostly' Johnny thought to himself. "Is it Robby? And what Carmen said about Miguel last night?" Veronica was truly his lucky charm. "Yeah. Exactly." Veronica sighed, empathetic to Johnny's struggle with Robby. "Look, Miguel is a good kid. You said it yourself, you won't let him go astray. And plus, I'll keep you on track if you start going off rails, you know that." She chuckled at the last bit, offering some support. He chuckled at her, agreeing with it. "You're right." He agreed. "And, if it helps, I could talk to Robby for you? I mean I don't know, but it seems like I'm his only friend at the moment." She suggested, hoping to be some sort of bridge between the father and the son. "You'd do that for me?" Johnny said, not expecting Veronica to offer, nor help. "Of course." She nodded with a small smile. All Johnny had to do was smile and kiss his girlfriend. He was forever grateful to have her in his life. "But look, you have to remember, I'm only here to help. It's not gonna take my word for Robby to turn and come running back. I'm there for the kid too, but in the end, it is his decision. So don't get your hopes too up." She said truthfully. She started to think about what she would say, or how she would approach this. It definitely can't be something like it would appear as Veronica to be sent by Johnny to mend their relationship, but something along the lines of being there for the kid. She would like nothing more than their situation to be fixed, but all she knew is that the kid needed a friend, and she was going to be there for him, whether it works out for Johnny and him or not—although, she hopes it will. She would've loved for someone like this in her life when she was in high school, but, like Frank Sinatra says, "That's Life".
