SUNSHINE SPILLS FROM THE WINDOW, a clashing of golden rays hit Veronica's face as the bright lights shine in her brown doe eyes. Her eyes squint and she hides under the covers. The sunny California weather also greets the outside of the building, emulating the yellow coloured walls to an almost pastel glow. She wipes her eyes under the covers and reaches for her phone that she feels under the pillow she laid on.

"9:30 am" Glows on her screen as her lock screen on her phone informs her. With the time, Veronica and her friends stare back at her. A mirror selfie after one of their most enjoyable rehearsals reminded her of the best moments with her friends, but also take her back to the shattering reality of last night's events. She looks intently at her lock screen, and soon her smile turns in a frown.

"Heather, why do you have to be such a megabitch?"

"Because I can be."

"Can I stay here tonight?"

She knew she was a mess. But she didn't care. Without a roof on her head and not one family member or close friend to turn to, the person that was left was the one that she stayed for. The one she loved being around. The one she enjoyed being along their company so much, she'd never would want to leave their side. In a short amount of time, Johnny [and Miguel respectively] were the last ones left.

Johnny stood there with a heartbroken expression. All he could do was nod as he held out his hand for Veronica. She dragged one of her duffle bags behind her, taking his hand as she followed him inside. He shut his door, and Veronica quickly dropped her bag close to his recliner chair, hearing her sniffling constantly. He turned around, only to be met with Veronica standing in the middle of his home with her hands in her face—her sleeves catching the wet tears. Johnny could feel an ache in his chest; seeing Veronica like this, he wouldn't think it would hurt this much, but it did. Just like Miguel, in a short amount of time, their friendship had grown so much. He cared about her, more quickly than he could admit but she'd basically had made it to the short list of who believed in Johnny. Everyone he felt like he gave up on, or they gave up on him. His list of supporters were ones he can count on his fingers; Veronica being on that list and he couldn't be more grateful.

Now he was going to he there for her—by her side.

Johnny stood there for a second, gathering his thoughts as he walked towards Veronica and pulled her into a hug. Her muffled cries quietly subsided as he felt her lean into him, and her hands softly grab his arms. Veronica felt Johnny's arms wrap around her protectively, like he were protecting her from the world's cruel intentions. The exhaustion of crying all night had finally sunk in, feeling washed out and a warmth comfort in his arms. It was the calm after the storm, and her mind felt at ease in the karate sensei's embrace. She can already feel herself calm her sobs, closing her eyes as she concentrates on Johnny's heartbeat—a tranquil, steady beat.
