The Zombie Invasion

Part 3: New Findings

Rose: "Listen up Kess, I know its difficult for you to process things right now because obviously you are being bombarded with news, not so happy ones of course, but it's not the right time to be emotional and all,we need to be practical."

Kesley: "Says the one who cries over less toppings on her pizza."she chuckled.

Rose glares at her and says, "Sometimes I doubt how can a person change emotions so fast, oh wait, are you even human or decided to join your cat in the animal world huh?"Kesley was about to throw hands when a girl's voice interrupted them. "Grow up guys!"

The girl was sitting on a chair outside a cafe with her eyes glued on her laptop screen.She seemed to be concentrating hard and didn't mind to spare her glance to the two ladies whose conversation she had just interrupted.

Rose:"And who are you to tell us?"The girl looked up hearing the sudden question directed towards her.Now that she was facing them, Rose and Kesley took a moment to observe the girl's appearance.She was wearing a garnet color crop top paired up with high waist jeans. There was a simple necklace with the initial 'K' on her neck and had rimmed eyeglasses. Her hair was kept loose and straight. "As an author who is writing ,your stupid conversation is disturbing me.I have full right to stop you." She responded back in a calm tone. "I just started with a new story and you both are quite similar to my main characters.Two childish girls taking the responsibility to save others and the coincidence is one of them actually has a cat named Mistor.Except the fact that you both don't even seem to be saving the world..haha"she laughed at the significant yet comical similarity.

"I don't mean any offence though. My name is Kyla. After dealing with a lot of toxic people for the most part of my life, I can judge you two are quite nice to be with.We can actually be friends." "After you made fun of us, do you think we accept that?"Kesley said. "Maybe then a coffee would work?Most probably you both need it as well. It seems like you ran for miles." Kyla offered.

The unexpected conversation had the two girls left in confusion. If there had been any more space left in their tiny brains to register any more, it was filled up with this encounter. Realising how tired they actually were,Rose accepted the offer and said, "Okay I guess it would do,the bill is on you then."

Both Kesley and Rose seated themselves on the olive painted chairs of the cafe. Though they could not trust anyone at this point, something about Kyla told them that they were safe with her. After they fed themselves with the pastries and coffee,Kyla asked them,"So what makes you both run though?" Silence surrounded them as Rose takes a deep breath and says,"Don't freak out but there are zombies in this city, we are not sure how many but there are."

Kyla started laughing, "Don't tell me that!Were you peeking into my laptop while sipping that coffee of yours, these tricks don't work with me." Her laughter was suppressed by a high pitch shriek coming from the back of the coffee shop.They quickly stood up and ran towards the sound.The scene they saw had them all gaping.

A man with eyes popping out with a color unmistakably that of blood,clothes hanging from his body due to his leaning posture.His face was pale and nose was crooked towards right.His lips were hanging as if threatening to fall down any second.He was holding on to the body of a now unconscious man while his fingers, which were as thin as sticks, trailed across the forehead of the man.The girls without wasting any more time ran for their lives.

Rose:"I told you."she said while running."Oh shoot Rose!I left my car at the college, we did that running for nothing."Kesley said as fear and disappointment took over her."Don't worry,I have mine right there."Kyla responded directing them towards her car.

As they reached the car, they all stopped as sweat dripped from their foreheads sending chills through their spines from what they saw next.
