"I can't believe it." Lily said, amazed, turning towards Terrence. "We did it. We actually did it."

The boy grinned, adjusting his position on the willow tree branch they were sitting on. "Last O.W.L. down," he gestured towards the redhead, "And last N.E.W.T. down." he gestured to himself.

"One last day and then you graduate." she mused. "Not going to lie, but I'll miss you, Higgs." she said with a slight pout. "You should've been born two years later."

"And made my parents go through the agony of not knowing my glorious presence for two years? Yeah right." he scoffed and Lily shoved him slightly with a smirk lighting up her face.

They sat in silence for a while, enjoying the stretch of scenery ahead of them. Terrence was the first to break it.

"Two friends sitting in a tree." he looked at her as the sun started to set in the distance.

"Yepp." Lily laughed, knowing where that was going.

"They might kiss."

"No." she shook her head, suppressing her smile.

"They might." he quipped.

"No, they won't." Lily pressed.

"Why'd you have to say it like that?" Terrence pouted.

"Because you're making this really awkward right now." Lily looked at him calmly.

"I – I told my mom about you."

"Wh- your mom?" Lily burst laughing. "Get over yourself Higgs."

"You're still hung up over Percy, aren't you?" he asked with a small smirk.

"I'm hung up over my O.W.L.s. I'm too busy to think about any boy drama right now." she rolled her eyes, taking his hand. "The end of the year feast is about to start soon. Come on."

Terrence huffed, rolling his eyes. These kinds of conversations weren't rare in their friendship. He kept teasing her like that and over time, Lily had learned to take it jokingly.

It was the night after Lillian Ariana Smith's first date. With no other than Murphy Brown. He'd found the guts to ask her two days before. Lily had always thought of Murphy as a friend, but after contemplating, she'd decided it wouldn't hurt. Every girl in her year had been on at least one date before, and Lily was determined to get her's over with, whether it was with Murphy or not.

"Thanks for dinner Murph." she said, as they stood before her front door. "This was fun."

"Anything for my best friend." he flashed his perfect smile. "Happy Birthday Lil." he looked down at her lips and Lily knew what was coming next. A lot of thoughts passed through her in that moment. On one hand, she wanted to desperately hope that if she kissed Murphy her feelings for Percy would just go away, and on the other, she knew it was wrong. She knew it was wrong to use Murphy like that. It was no secret that he had always had a tiny crush on her, and if she kissed him right then, only Merlin knew how deep of a mess she would get herself into. His lips were only inches away and before she could say anything, the door opened, revealing a not-very-happy Connor Smith.

"Dad!" Lily gulped, jumping away from Murphy. "Hi."

The man just glared at the blonde next to her.

"Good evening Mr Smith."

Someone burst laughing.

It wasn't Connor Smith.
