"Oh, hey! Nice to meet you, my name is Fundy!" he greeted, offering his hand for Y/N to shake.

Y/N's hand tingled as they accepted the handshake. They were certainly awake now if they hadn't already been woken up by the warmth that emanated from his voice and his eyes.

"Hi. I'm Y/N."

Eret grabbed his bag off of the table, gave Fundy a half-hug goodbye, and swiftly clocked out, seeming reluctant to leave his friends but glad to be off work. The room quickly fell into an awkward silence.

Y/N tried to speak, but their head was full of more questions about their new partner.

God, I probably look so awkward right now. What if he thinks I'm weird? I'm just staring at him. Why does he need to be so damn attractive?

If they weren't so caught up in their thoughts, they might've noticed that Fundy held the same awestruck expression on his face.

Fundy shook his head to clear his thoughts (which did not help clear Y/N's thoughts of him) and took a step back.

"Uh, let's get started then."

/////

Fundy led Y/N to the security office through the west hall, "Sapnap's Hall" he called it, referencing the bunny-eared animatronic that frequented that hallway during the day. Between shows, the four on-stage animatronics would walk the halls and showroom repeating pre-recorded phrases from their scratchy voiceboxes. Y/N was relieved when Fundy explained that the animatronics stayed on stage at night. Turning around to an enormous, shiny, plastic chest when sweeping the hallways or manning a birthday party was chilling, to say the least.

The pair sat down on matching office chairs at a shared desk, equipped with two monitors, a desk fan, scattered papers, and two small plushies: one Dream-branded plush of George's pink cupcake on a plush platter, and another store-brand plush of a small orange fox with a fluffy tail and buttons for eyes (Y/N guessed Fundy must have brought that plush from home). The wall behind the desk was covered in promotional posters of Dream's Pizza, depicting the main trio of animatronics performing on stage, as well as children's artwork of all four animatronics.

Fundy explained how to bring up the security cameras on Y/N's monitor, as well as the purpose of the hand-sized door and light buttons to Y/N's right.

"So you control that door and I control this one. That's sort of only for emergencies though. We tend to use so little power during the night that the company only gives us a limited amount from the generator. I guess it's to make sure we don't drain money by accidentally leaving the heating on in the showroom. The doors use power to keep shut though, at least that's what Phil told me when I started this shift."

Y/N laughed. "What kind of emergency would require us to lock ourselves in the room?" Fundy laughed along, his cheeks reddening slightly. Y/N had a very nice laugh, he thought.

"Maybe a bear attack? To be fair, I think the company would want us to fight the bear."

"And we would win."

"We would, of course."

The conversation died out and the two sat in comfortable silence. Y/N took the time to examine the animatronics on her monitor. They clicked on Camera 1A.

Dream, the main animatronic and the restaurant's namesake, stood in the center of the stage. He appeared to wear a green suit with a black bowtie and he held a black microphone in his thick, animatronic fingers. On his head was blond hair (or as close as plastic can get to hair), which walked the line between messy and neat, with two blond bear ears. The most unusual thing about his character, Y/N thought, was his face. His skin was white as paper and instead of a usual animatronic face, he had two dots for eyes and a simple smile. It endeared him to Y/N as a child, but they couldn't help but be unnerved by it at times now. Unlike the other animatronics, his face didn't move as he sang. Maybe they were cutting costs?

On his right stood George. He had a blue theme, wearing a light blue suit and a red bowtie. His "hair" was neat and dark, making it difficult to see any details within it other than the way it shined under the stage lights. His face was human and quite pale, and covering his eyes were sunglasses with white rims. He didn't have animal features like the other animatronics, but he held a plastic pink cupcake with two eyes that moved while he sang. Y/N was always scared of the cupcake. Maybe that's why George was never their favorite animatronic. They always liked his songs, though.

On the far left, Sapnap held a bright red electric guitar. He wore a black suit with a white blazer and a black bowtie that matched Dream's. A white bandana appeared to hold back his black "hair," and black bunny ears protruded from his head. His eyes were brown but an illusion made it appear that they were on fire. The fire motif was continued to his red guitar, whose body was shaped like a flame. Sapnap was always Y/N's favorite animatronic. He always had the most personable voice lines and as a kid, Y/N would sometimes follow him around the showroom just to hear his voice.

Y/N clicked on Camera 1C: Pirate Cove to find Bad. They weren't sure where the name came from, as Bad always had very positive voice lines and would chastise children for swearing. Y/N guessed it was probably an inside joke from the creators.

Bad wore a red suit with black accents and a black bowtie. He had red fox ears and tail and, to fit with his pirate look, a hook hand and eyepatch. Y/N always thought Bad was cool and liked that he had his own stage and theme, but sometimes they wished Bad got the attention that the main trio got. Maybe it was strange that they felt sympathy towards an animatronic. They weren't sure.

Y/N's thoughts were interrupted by Fundy tapping their shoulder. It was so gentle, they almost didn't feel it. Y/N turned toward their partner.

"Hey, uh, is it alright if I get some things done while we're here? Usually, nothing happens this shift and I really want to get this data pack out by the weekend," Fundy asked, seeming nervous despite being Y/N's superior in this situation.

Data pack? Y/N guessed it had something to do with what Eret was talking about earlier. Eret and Niki had told them that Fundy had a tendency to get enveloped in his coding projects when he found inspiration.

"I won't tell if you don't."

Fundy grinned thankfully and pulled a laptop out of his backpack, getting to work straight away. Y/N knew that they should be watching the cameras while their partner was distracted but they couldn't help but be distracted themself. Y/N watched as Fundy worked, not exactly sure what he was doing but not wanting to distract him to ask. They couldn't help but find his focused expression attractive as he quickly typed away at his laptop. His eyes were beautiful, and from this closer perspective, Y/N could see how long his eyelashes were. Y/N couldn't help but wonder how soft his hair was and notice the streaks of white running through it. Were those natural? Either way, they endeared him to Y/N more. Y/N's eye's flickered down to his lips for a moment before they shook their head and turned back to their monitor. What were they thinking? Why were they having these thoughts right now? They shook it off and went back to work.

Fundy felt his cheeks heat up and the tips of his ears reddening. He had glanced over at Y/N, just a second early enough.
