Chapter 2

3 𝔂𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓼 𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓻.
   Conan tie his sneakers and step outside his house. When he meet professor Agasa for the first time after he could talk, he has requested at the investor to make a enchant sneaker for him and a glasses that he could use like his last life, although he knew that the elder know nothing about those, he trust that Agasa could help him, and despite being unable to lie properly, Agasa is good at doing thing he asked for. He properly wear his glasses and smile at his brother. "Shi-nii." with a high-pitch voice he call out to his brother. Shinichi smiled fondly at his twin. "Ken, let's go. We will be late and Ran would be mad." Shinichi said smiling.

   Conan could see that Shinichi really like Ran, just like his past life, and in this life, he hope to protect Shinichi so Ran could be happy with Shinichi. Shinichi always be the one that protect Ran and Conan's innocent smile. That's why, Conan thought that being Shin'ichi's little brother aren't that bad. They walk toward Ran's house, there is Ran and Sonoko who are standing there, waiting for the twin. "Mou! Shinichi, Kenichi, you guys are late again!" Ran start babbling. "Gomen Ran, Ken is looking for his glasses." Shinichi said. Ran just huff and Sonoko just said nothing because she is just excited to see a magic show.

   The show where Kuroba Toichi lost his life. Conan is pretty sure that Toichi is KID now and he need to help Toichi, because he wants KID to forgive him. For the past years, Conan keep going to Kaito's house to talk with Kaito and keep an eyes to Toichi. Kaito and Aoko are always together, and sometimes it sting Conan's heart because he just love Kaito, because Conan is pretty sure that Kaito is KID in his last life and aren't KID in love with him. Conan start to think that maybe he should not save Toichi but he didn't want to be selfish.

   Sonoko's driver send them in front of a hall and Conan asks the other to go inside first since he wants to meet with Kaito. Shinichi glanced at him, worrying but Conan just smile and said Kaito is a good boy and won't hurt Conan. Conan scout the area and noticed a few unwanted guests before meet with Kaito. Toichi looks at Conan wearily and sigh, he bend down before whispering something to Conan. "It is a pleasure." Conan said. He look around for bug before excuses himself to toilet. He adjusted his throat before dialing a number he memorize from his past. "Euphoria Hall in Ekoda, at 6'o clock direction, there is someone in the building against." the voice that come out from Conan is a male voice, older and cold.

   After a few talks, he went out and act like nothing. He could seen a familiar man inside the crowd and smirk. Since he could talk, he try to practice his voice so he could changed his voice whenever he wants. James Black is one of his mom trusted ally. After informing to James that Black Organization is going to kill someone in Ekoda today, they quickly take action. When Conan is 6, he has make a call to James and offer them a hand, although James never see him, he has help James a few times and thus gain himself a nickname from Jodie as Cool Kid.

   Just like he expects, the show went awry and Kuroba Toichi is killed. Conan quickly cover Kaito eyes by hugging Kaito. He could see how Kaito froze when the show goes wrong. Conan tugged Chikage and Kaito so that they didn't do anything rash. "Don't worry. Everything would be okay. I promise, everything would be okay." Conan whisper those comforting words to Kaito. He could saw Chikage broke down and Kaito body shaking crazily in his embrace. He keep whispering and saying sorry for everything. He couldn't help them. Luckily, three man is arrested but it is just two lower member without codename and one is Rabbit and the arrest is done without anyone knowledge. From Rabbit, they got to know a few useful stuff and he is locked inside a special prison.

   Conan keep coming back and forth to comfort Kaito. He walks to Chikage, when she's alone. He try to meet her a few times but she just has lots of people around her and the crow is watching them. "Okaa-san." he called out to Chikage. Since Conan keep coming to Kuroba's house, Chikage and Toichi keep asking him to call them Okasan and Otou-san. Chikage whose face is somber, looks up to Conan. Conan smiled at her and hug her. She tense before relaxing inside his small embrace. Conan let go before giving her a letter. Chikage look puzzled but Conan's smile encourage her. She slowly open the letter. Her tears poured down, relief after reading those words.

'Towards my dear wife, Kuroba Chikage.
Please believe me that I am still alive, but I need to lay low for a while, according to a mysterious man, that I might be killed if I do not listen to his advice. I do not know when and what, but I hope you know that I am alive, please don't tell Kaito yet. I want him to understand how this world work first. When he is older, he might know what happened. Please take care of yourself and Kaito for me. I will return to you when that time comes, it might take longer but you dear, my love, please wait for me.

   "Please don't be sad, okaasan. That mysterious person would call you and inform you anything you need. He would introduce himself as Ranpo and Doyle." that last word is said with cryptic. Conan smile before leaving Chikage for her own space. He go inside Kaito's room and climb into his bed before burying his head to the taller chest and sleep peacefully. He always feel safe beside Kaito. After all Kaito is his KID and KID always protect him. Kaito sensing a comfortable warm beside him, hugging the source tightly. In Conan's dream that night, a white phantom is smiling and holding his hand out to him. But Conan couldn't help but feel insecure when he sees Aoko and Kaito together. Would Kaito left him for Aoko?
