A/N: ah yes (I know what you are thinking) , your typical coffee shop AU , except this may have an irregular twist rather than being a quick oneshot. I believe this may take up a handful of parts, I hope you enjoy the first chapter. :))

The smell of ground coffee beans , a highly familiar scent to Amami , manoeuvred its way to his senses when he approached the small building. A chimed bell rung out due to the small cafe door closing behind himself , getting ready for today's work to arrive. Kaede Akamatsu, his former co worker and classmate , had stood behind the counter with a tired look upon her face.

"Hey there Kaede , you okay? You seem to have your apron twisted-"
Rantaro let a small chuckle escape his parted lips before he went over to fix the attempt of a bow that the tired pianist created - she seemed emotionally drained.
"I'm fine! I might have stayed up a little late playing the piano again .. but that's okay!"
She smiled nervously , her eyes practically struggling to stay open.

Amami shook his head with yet another remark of laughter , stepping to the back of the counter to retrieve his own murky green apron - after all work was going to start in five minutes and if Kaede wasn't in shape then he thought he had to be in a strong mindset today , though he was pretty chill about it all so far.
"You really need to stop being so distracted when night rolls around , but I guess I can't stop you from doing what you're passionate about can I now? If you're pretty tired though , I can do orders and you can check if the customers are satisfied-"

"Hmm, nope! I'm not that tired Amami, just a little worked up over the lack of sleep. Besides I'm sure Kichi and Tenko will arrive to help soon anyways , we've got extra cover today because nobody is focusing on their studies,"
Akamatsu cheerfully declared with a grin , her spirits always seemed to be hopeful.. hopefully that doesn't snap one day.
"Ah alright then , that's covered , Kichi and Tenko can take orders at the front counter and we can both take seating orders."

Luckily , just as the reply was stated , in walked Kokichi and Tenko in their work uniform.
"I'm so sorry that we're late! Kichi here was being a typical degenerate and slowed us down , I didn't even agree to waking with him,"
Chabarisha had stomped away from Ouma with a frustrated expression , typically to be expected from her and her usual behaviour.
The three chatted helplessly among themselves just minutes before the coffee shop had opened for shift hours , Rantaro resting his arms upon the glass counter infront of him.

He observed the tables over time as they filled and his colleagues had already gotten to work , preparing beverages and taking down eat out orders.
Vibrations faintly made their way to Amami's fingers as they drummed slightly against the tabletop , he had began to slowly lose track of what was really going on until Kaede had snapped the greenette out of it.

"Rantaro! I need to ask you a quick favour.. there's a particular customer sat at the back table on the far right and I think they might be creating a bad vibe toward some of the guests- could you go have a word while I prepare the next order?"
She managed to say it while out of breath before dashing back to the customers awaiting her , leaving no time for Amami to actually respond - but , of course , he didn't mind doing the task anyways.

A seemingly mysterious figure sat themselves on one of the very far tables , their head dug into a book while they seemed to be slightly smiling. You couldn't tell for sure though , the customer had worn a black mask over their mouth , long dark locks of hair reaching to about their waste as it draped over their perfectly postured shoulders. Rantaro wasn't sure how to approach them or even react at the moment , he sort of just began staring until it became a little too long , he had been standing right by the table expressionless.
