"Yeah, alright, I saw the big guy." Eren says, everyone was crowded around him as they wanted to hear about the colossal titan, I sat with the three of them, while Mikasa, Armin and I drank our soup and ate our bread, Eren kept telling the story, "So! What were they like?!" Someone asked, Eren dropped his spoon, his eyes widen and he clutches his mouth, he looked like he would vomit, "Shut up." I say and keep eating my soup, everyone looked at me, "Shut up and eat your dinner. It's getting cold and can't you see you're being a bother to Eren." I drink a spoonful of soup, "Sorry, we didn't mean to-" Connie says, "It's not like that," Eren takes a bite of his bread, those stupid titans, they're really not that big a deal, if we focus on mastering the Omni-Directional-Mobility gear they give us they it's titan payback time. I'm going to graduate and join the scout regiment. Then I'm sending the titans back to hell." He clutches onto his bread roll, "Eh..." I shrug, "Just using ODM gear isn't going to send those titans straight to hell, you've got to have a head to think with and a heart to fight for." I say, they look at me, "And the scouts you say." I rest my cheek on my hand, "I like you already. Tell me, what squad?" I ask, I already knew the answer, "Levi." "Levi." We both say at the same time, "Ah... how'd you know?" He was taken aback, "Any aspiring scout wants to join that man's team. He's the best of the best once you get up the ranks." I smile and eat the last of my bread roll, "Hey are you crazy or something, but signing up for reconnaissance is suicide." A boy from another table says, his name was Jean, "I guess we'll see, or at least I will. You seem content with the interiors living with the MPs." Eren looks at him, "Look, I'm just speaking honestly here kid. I think it's just better than being some loud mouthed brat, tough guy wannabe saying he isn't as piss scared than the rest of us." Jean smirks, "Are you trying to pick a fight?" Eren's face darkened and he stood up, "Stop it you guys." Marco says, "Alright, sure. Makes no difference to me." Jean smirks, we heard the bell signifying time to go to the dorms, the sun was just setting above the mountain ranges, "Alright, here. Sorry. Sorry for dismissing your name and calling you out earlier, put it there kid, what do ya say?" He holds his hand out, "Yeah, right. I'm sorry as well." He slaps his hand and walks out, I smile as I watch him walk out with Mikasa following him, I did my trademark whistle and click, "Kid's got spunk, personality and potential." I grin, I stood up and stretched my arms up about to walk out, "Um, excuse me." Jean walks up to me blushing, "I uh, I just wanted to say, I mean. I've never seen anyone like you before." His cheeks were bright red, "I mean... I'm sorry. You have really beautiful black hair." He stammers, "You trying to hit on me." I smirk and walk over to him, he was a whole head and neck taller than me, "N-no!" He quickly shakes his head, "Cute reaction." I punch his torso lightly and walk out to the girls rooms.
I grab a loaf of bread, some water and a potato, I saw Sasha fall onto the ground exhausted, her eyes glowed red and she pounced towards me, I acted instinctively and launched my leg out kicking her stomach, she grunted in pain, I panted, "Jesus, are you that barbaric when it comes to food." I look at her, "Gentle." I give it to her like she was a dog, "You're an angel!" She sparkles and hugs me, "I mean Sadies didn't say you couldn't have a friend deliver you food." I smile and give her the water sack.
"It's aptitude test time so listen up! There's no place for you here if you cannot perform!" Sadies shouts, everyone was whispering, "It's Captain Levi," "Captain Levi," "Oh my gosh it's Captain Levi." Everyone was stunned, I grinned, he looked at me, his face still stoic and unfazed but I was the loving glint in his eye, "I have Humanity's Strongest Solider here today to help you with your ODM gear, put on the harness and we'll hook you up, fail and we ship you off to the fields!" Sadies roars, in the back of everyone's mind was 'what if I fail?!', Sadies comes up to me with a crate of harnesses to hand out, "Jam one and give it to Jaeger," He whispers, I nod, I pretend to trip and all the harnesses spill out, "Tch." Levi looks down on me, everyone backs away afraid what he'll do, "S-Sorry sir!" I 'accidentally' threw one of the harnesses up and Levi caught it, I saw the glint of his pocket knife, he puts the harness behind his back and I hear the click of him snapping the buckle, I nod, "Take it, you're next." He throws it at Eren, everyone was still a distance away from us, "Idiot." He picks up a few of the harnesses, "Isn't the floor disgusting?" I grin, "Shut up. Isn't our base dirty? I still live in it, I think I can hand a bit of dust." He scoffs but his ring caught the light and I smiled, "Brats, come help, unless you wanna get shipped off to the fields." He barks, "Y-Yes sir!" They salute, everyone picks up a harness and straps themselves in, most people were confused with where each strap goes, I put it on in an instant with muscle memory, "Smith, you're up next." Sadies says, I didn't respond to the name, forgetting my last name was Smith, "Smith!" Levi pushes me, I jolt back into reality, I saw Sasha, Jean, Connie, Armin and Mikasa, "Promising." Levi whispers, I nod, we look at Eren, he was upside down, "Well I guess you could say you messed with his gear pretty good." I snickered, "Get in brat." He says, we went behind me and clipped the two wires to either side of my hips, "Brings back memories huh, of the eight ninth cadet corps," He quickly and secretly kisses the back of my neck, "Levi, stop." I flaunt at him to push him away, he lets out a minuscule smile, without warning, he yanks the wires, "IDIOT!" I scream and my head bashes into the ground, Levi's face dropped, he quickly lets down the wires and runs over to me, "YOU KNOW MY FEET CAN'T TOUCH THE GROUND! YOU JUST GO UP AND YANK ME!" I punch his chest lightly, "Bandages." He holds his hands out, no one was near, "I SAID BANDAGES!" He yells, someone ran of to the first aid kit and brought back a roll, "Sorry, I thought you'd be able to do it, I guess they changed the height limit and carried the training simulation higher," Levi wraps my head, Sadies walks over to us with his back towards us, "That's true, we now have a height limit, sorry about that Nat, I should've warned Levi about that before he did that, I saw his body trembling slightly, "Oh you idiot, don't you start laughing and making fun of my height either!" I was about to punch him but Levi grabbed me, everyone was shocked at how I treated Levi and Sadies, "She's going to get send off to the fields tomorrow if she keeps this up." They whispered, "Try again?" Sadies yells at me, I winced, "Yes sir!" I salute, "Captain, hook her up again, I'll get the next lot of kids ready." Sadies walks off, Levi nods, the girls were blushing and jealous that Levi was hooking me up to the simulation and how he bandaged up my head, "Can you lower it any more?" I look at him, he showed me the end of the wires he was holding, I look at the wires that were still too tall for me, I jumped up and tried to hook it to the clasp on my hip but once I did one, my core wasn't ready and I almost slammed into the ground again, "Stupid height, stupid height requirements now." I grumbled, Jean caught me right before my head hit the ground again, "Here, I'll hold you while the Captain hooks you up." He was blushing, his hands were around my waist as he holds me up to the height, Levi's face was red in fury, he quickly hooks me up, "Horse face, go do your own training, unless you wanna go to the fields." Levi hisses, Jean quickly lets go of me and goes back to the rest of the cadets, "Who even set up these stupid simulation ODM rigs, and who the hell changed the height of them." I grumbled as Levi stood in front of me holding the slack wire, "Erwin changed it, since most of the cadets aren't midgets, they could just touch the ground so it wasn't much of a rig then, we changed it but now looks like maggots like you two can't even touch the floor." Sadies covers his mouth and disguises his laughter with a cough, "You good," Levi looks up at me, I nod, I swing back and forth, I look over at Eren, he was still upside down, "Poor kid, he wanted to be in the scouts so badly, I wonder why Sadies told us to mess with his gear." I look at him desperately trying to get back up, "You pass." Sadies yells at me, I flinch at his loud voice, "Unclip yourself, I'll catch you." Levi says, "Yeah but it's kinda high, I don't really trust you catching me." I look down at him, he raises an eyebrow, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Kinda..." I chuckle and scratch my cheek, "Just unclip yourself brat unless you wanna be stuck there all night." He holds his arms out, "I swear to god if you drop me." I shut my eyes tight and unclip my hooks simultaneously, I felt a pair of arms catch me, "Told you I'd catch you, remember that day you ran out of gas and I had to catch you, you were so high up, holy crap, you scared ten years off my life that day." Levi gives a small smiles, "Oopsies." I giggled and looked at him, "Um Captain Levi, can you get me up on he rig now?" A girl was blushing and fiddling with her thumbs, Levi went back to his stoic face, "Tch, get on brat." He lets me back down on my feet and made the girl get herself on the rig, not helping her at all other than pulling the slack of the wire.
That night, Eren, Mikasa, Armin and I sat together in the back table, Eren and I both had bandages around our heads, "Just think, how can I kill them if I can't even stand up straight." He says, I grit my teeth, I couldn't tell him, "I think it might be time to let that dream die." Mikasa says, we all look at her, "I think you should give up your chances in becoming a solider, there's a lot more fighting and combat than just throwing your life away in vain." She says quietly, "What are you saying, after all that, after everything that happened! After what happened to my mum! You're crazy if you think I'm just gonna walk away!" Eren shouts, "I get it, but it doesn't matter how determined you are, because whether or not you're fit enough to be a solider isn't up to you. Please understand." She keeps trying to talk Eren out of it, we heard the bell, "Come on Armin, Nat." Eren takes his plate, I lower my head and follow Eren out, Mikasa sat at the table by herself, everyone snickered and laughed at Eren, he was so determined just yesterday, not that fire seemed to be dying out.
"What's the trick to posture control? Hard to say, guess I just got the gift, you've just got to feel it you know." Connie snickers, "I'm trying to figure out what happened to you. You've screwed up every way imaginable." Jean taunts, "Please guys, you gotta help me, I'm beggin' you." I hear Eren, I sigh and open the door to the dorms everyone looks at me, Jean blushes, "Eren, door. Now." I lean on the doorframe, "Wha? Why?" He asks, "You want to get into the scouts, I'll show you. Come on." I smile, "H-Hey, could you help me too?" Jean asks, "Suit yourself," I shrug, I grab a flame torch and walk out, in the back of my mind, I knew his gear was rigged by Levi, I hook him up, "If you feel anything, tell me and I'll hold onto you." I say, "Jean, pull the slack," I look at him, "Tch." He scoffs and pulls Eren up, I hold his torso to keep him up straight, "Won't we get caught?" Eren looks at me, "Just blame it on me, it's fine. Promise." I grin, "Okay, settle your weight into your harness, pretend like you're almost sitting in it. That's the trick." I slowly let go of his back and stomach, he takes a breath in and settles down into the harness, "Good?" I ask, "Good." He breathes out and nods, I take a step back, he spreads his legs to the side a little, "Mmhm," I smile, "Woah, I'm doing it! I'm really doing it!" He throws his hands up in the air, "WAIT NO!" I knew he still wouldn't be able to move around too much with it on, I ran towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist, Jean went red in the face with anger, "Careful big shot, you're just getting the hang of it, don't do flips or stuff like that silly." I flick his nose, "Alright, Jean, let him down." I turn to him, his face darkened and abruptly let go of the slack making Eren fall down with a thud, "What the hell man." Eren rubs his butt, "Let's go." Jean grabs my wrist, "J-Jean!" I stumbled over my feet as he quickly walks back to the dorms.
