Tw: Suicide, main character death
The story of Theseus ends with him being thrown off a cliff. The myth does state who had done this act, but it's only a myth, it can be changed. The murderer isn't always someone else.
Tommy was goofing around in the nether with Techno, they had just accomplished something and were now going to celebrate.
"Look at me Techno! I got my pep back! I don't need this stupid lava! Watch!" He chugged a fire rez. potion, feeling the icy liquid make it's way through his systems. He then took a deep breathe and jumped off the bridge.
The feeling of falling was exhilarating. He loved the way it felt to have the air rush past him as he plummeted. He then hit the lava, the thick molten rock hardly splashing as he landed in it. The warmth surrounded him, it was actually quite lovely the way the cold potion and the hot lava countered eachother.
Tommy sat in the lava a moment. When was the last time he had felt warm? He always felt cold. Not the kind of cold from the potion or the snow at Techno's place, but cold on the inside.
The last time had had felt warm, was back when he was sitting on the walls of their not yet named country. Wilbur, Niki, Fundy, and most importantly Tubbo were sitting up there watching the sunset. They were laughing about different names suggested, but how one really rung. L'Manburg.
Tommy popped his head above the surface and smiled a semi-forced smile, "See! I don't need this stupid lava! I can be just fine without it!" He had lied, he wanted to experience this again, he wanted to feel warm again.
Time passed after that celebration. Tommy had seen Tubbo again, but it wasn't the same. It would never be the same. Tommy sat on a roof in L'Manburg, Wilbur's old coat around his shoulders, as he watched the president run errands and laugh.
Tubbo had such a pretty smile when it was genuine, and with the way he was laughing every part of it was genuine. He looked so warm. Tommy frowned and turned away, jumping down and walking away. He was jealous that Tubbo could move on. Tommy wanted to move on, but he couldn't, he always felt so cold.
Walking throught the nether to return to Techno's, Tommy watched the lava bubble and swirl. So many shades of red and orange that glowed vibrantly compared to the dull red nether rack. He ached to look that vibrant again, feel that warm again.
Deciding to take a break from walking, he sat down on the 1x1 log path and dangled his feet over the edge. The heat reached out to his toes throught the souls of his shoes, the pops and fizzles of the lava called Tommy to join it.
Tommy didn't necessarily want to join it, but he wished he could. He knew that dying wouldn't get rid of his sadness, only push it onto others. But the thought teased him anyway.
"Maybe they won't notice," he commented aloud to himself. Tubbo was busy having fun, and Techno was probably in some sort of argument with Phil about if the logs should be bark up or bark down.
The longer he sat there, the more he realised that he would be doing the world, and himself, a favor. Sure, it would hurt his friends for a little bit, but they would get over it and move on. It would be no different then when he was exiled. As he thought about this, the heat latched itself onto Tommy's feet, wanting him to feel warm again.
He look his shoes off, then took his socks off and placed them inside the shoes so they couldn't get lost. He took Wilbur's coat off, giving it a final hug befor folding it and setting it next to his shoes. He sighed as he let himself fall backward, into the lava.
The fall was just as exhilarating as before, the feeling of the air rip through his hair was calming in a way. Then he landed in the sea of lava, it only hurt for a moment, but he quickly became accustom to the extreme heat as he closed his eyes and smiled.
