5. Holiday Hater

Tw: main character death (it's not bad)

"Whyyyyyyy? Why won't you go out with meeeee!"

"Karl, I'm not going ice skating with you."

"Please Sap? I want to spend some time with you over the holidays! You've been hiding in your house," Karl pouted as he sat next to Sapnap. The man trying to get the arsonist to go ice skating.

"I don't want to, the holidays just aren't my thing," Sap closed his eyes and leaned his head agains the tree he was sitting under. The leaves had changed colour and fallen by now, leaving just bare branches wherever anyone looked.

"Why not?"

"It's nothing, just aren't my favorite."

"But whyyyy?"

"Look around! Everything is dead and grey and lifeless-"

"Dead and lifeless are the same thing," Sap shot a glare in Karl's direction, shutting his up.

"You know what I mean! It's all so..depressing. And having no family to spend The holidays with makes it worse."

"We're your family now! I can show you how fun the different holiday activities is!"

"I don't want to, I don't see the point."

"I just told you the point, idiot," Karl poked Sapnap's cheek, causing the man to frown.

"I'm not an idiot. I know the point you're trying to make, but I don't want that."

"Pleaaaassee? Just one activity of my choosing?" Karl pleaded.

"Not of your choosing, that could go places," Sap laughed as Karl took a minute to process that.

"Only if you want it to," He winked with a laugh.

"Hey! Okay no! That was not what you were supposed to say!" The two continued to laugh for a solid 15 second before finally taking a deep breathe. "Fine," Sap finally agreed, "I'll go ice skating."

"Yay! C'mon, it's Tubbo's shift and he'll let us on the rink for free!" Karl grabbed Sapnap's hand and dragged him up, pulling him along as he lead them over the the festival area.

"Wait, Tubbo has a job at the ice rink? I though secretary was full time."

"It's weird, but I told him we're coming so he has skates reserved for us!" Karl stopped infront of the puddle of ice that Manburg had dubbed the skating ring.

"Karl, do we have to? Can't we do something normal?"

"No. Bow let's find- Tubbo! Tubbo do you have any skates?" Karl dragged Sapnap over to Tubbo, who had been chilling at a small booth.

"Yeah, I told you I saved two pairs. Hi Sapnap, glad you came!" Sapnap waved as Tubbo set two pairs of Frost Walkers up on the counter.

"Woah! Frost Walkers! I didn't know we had those! That's such a high quality brand!" Karl's eyes lit up as he examined the pale blue skates.

"Schlatt bought 'em. I thought he'd be too cheap, but he brought 'em over the other day saying he caught wind of his ship sailing. No clue what that means." Karl choked as his face went red. The president of Manburg did this because of- Quackity was so dead.

"His ship? He sails ships and they still float?" Sap was trying to play off the blush he had across his face aswell.

"Yeah I dunno, I guess so. Anyways, have fun! I've got papers to work on," Tubbo got up and walked away, a dorky smile on his face. Karl realised Tubbo knew exactly what Schlatt was on about when he left the Frost Walker skates.

"I hate the holidays. They cause everyone to act all weird and sh-"

"But they're so much fun!" Bad had come out of no where, but saved the world from another curse word. "It's all sparkly and bright and happy! And you get to spend time with friends and family, and there's so much tasty food!"

"But it's not all that, you've just never experienced it the other way," Sap grabbed the skates aggressively and put them on.

"Oh, well, yeah I guess. But if you've seen it the other way, that gives you more reason to enjoy the cheer with friends this time!" Bad put on the best smile he could, but being half demon makes it a bit creepy. It's the thought that counts though.

"Yeah, whatever, are we skating or not Karl?"

"Yeah, gimme a sec to put the skates on," after a quick lacking of skates, both men were on the ice. Sap was tightly gripping the side railing, and Karl looked like he was warming up for a routine or some crap.

"Kaaarrrrllll, Fire and ice don't mix! Why did you make me do this?"

"Because it's funny to watch you struggle," he laughed out.

"You're mean," was thrown his way before the other slipped and fell. "Kay, I'm done, I skated. Goodbye," Sap tried to crawl over to the exit while Karl was doubled over in laughter.

"No-" he wheezed, "no wait. I'm- I'm sorry for laughing. Sapnap no don't leave," he slid over to where the arsonist was trying to escape. "C'mon Snapnap, don't give up."

"Call me Snapnap again, I dare you," karl skated out of the man's reach before continuing to taunt him.

"What are you gonna do Snapnap?"

"I'm gonna hurt you, that's what!"

"You can't reach me!" Sap smiled as he reaches solid ground. He dried his hands before pulling out a bow.

"Now I can," get laughed as the panic settled into Karl's eyes.

"Now wait a second. Do we rea-" a shot was fired and Karl slid out of the way, more arrows we fired and Karl had to dance his way around them before being nailed in the chest. This sent his items exploding everywhere, and Karl sitting upright in bed.

Sapnap was still giggling by the time Karl made it back to the ice puddle. Karl collected his items wordlessly, sorting through his inventory before walking away without a word.

"Karl, where are you going?" Karl set his skates up on the counter, a couple diamonds with them.

"Well obviously you don't want anything to do with this activity. I mean, you did it. One activity. Now you can go back to your brooding under your tree." Karl walked away, he had never once looked at Sap.

Sapnap tried to hide his guilt, but inevitably let a few tears slip as he walked back to his tree outside his house. He hadn't meant to hurt Karl's feelings, he was joking around. He didn't realise Karl cared so much about the silly little ...whatever they had gone on.

"Stupid holidays. Make everyone so emotional and sentimental and crap. They ruin everything." Sap stuck his head in this arm as he sat under his tree, ignoring the rest of the world.

Aha, so this was supposed to be fluffy and Karl and Sapnap would end up being a thing and it was gonna be so cute! Idk what happened. But 20 days till Christmas! Wooo!
