Tw: Mentions of past abuse, main character death

"Tommy died."

Dream had delivered the news early Saturday morning.

"I found him floating in the water, I don't know what happened."

Tubbo wept. There was no words to describe how he was feeling, he had lost his best friend, the only real person in his life.

He could feel the hands of people trying to comfort him, he could hear their whispers of sorry's, he could see them walk away after he gave them no response. None of which he registered, opting to sit with himself and his cries to the world for his best friend back.

The universe heard him, they decided to take pitty on the boy, but they weren't done with their games.

A week passed, and now Tubbo sat at the bench. Listening to one of Tommy's disks. He had dry cheeks, but his eyes always seemed to water.

"Hello," the familiar voice felt so strange on Tubbo's ears. He turned to see a ghost standing with his compass in hand.

"Tommy?" Confusion flashed across the ghosts face, almost like he didn't recognize the name.

"No, I'm not sure who that is," the normally angry voice was light and friendly. It made his accent shine and it was quite lovely to listen to.

"You're Tommy, don't be silly," tubbo let out a rough chuckle, clearing his throat before speaking again, "you're my Tommy and I'm your Tubbo!" He smiled, but the ghost still looked confused, his eyes glancing down at the compass in his hand.

"See, that's what my compass says, but I have no idea who Tubbo is. Or your Tommy. If he's lost I can help you look for him!"

The smile dropped from Tubbo's face, the tears coming back to his eyes and rolling down his cheeks, "you don't remember me?"

"Oh! Oh no I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry. It's nothing personal, I don't remember anything really. All I know is this compass is really important. Do you know why?"

Tubbo sniffed, nodding, "I-it's um, it's a gift...to you. From, uh, from Ghostbur. He-he gave me one too. Like yours. Do you, um, do you know who you are?" The ghost shook his head, floating over and sitting next to Tubbo.

"You're Tubbo, correct?" He nodded and the ghost smiled, proud he remembered the boys name, "okay, and you're looking for Tommy? I can help you find him!"

"No," he shook his head, "you're Tommy."

It seemed to click on the ghosts mind, "oh! And we're friends right!" He was excited that he found someone who would actually answer him. The few others he had found just stared at him whenever he spoke to them.

"Yeah, we're best friends!"

"Oh, that makes me happy! You seem like a cool person, I'm glad we're friends."

Tubbo smiled, though it hurt that Tommy didn't remember anything, he would try to help him gain memories. "Want me to show you around?"

"Ooo, yes please! You're home looks so cool!"

"Yeah, this is L'manburg, almost everyone on the server has played a role in it's history."

"That's cool! Who built it?"

"You did! Along with Wilbur, Fundy, Niki, and a few others. I helped too! Ot was so much fun in the early days."

"What was it like back then?"

"We had a lot of fun building it, then we sold drugs out of a van, and then the green guy named Dream came and told us we couldn't so we waged war," Tubbo hadn't felt this way in a while. Probably before he was president. He felt happy.

"A war? That sounds awesome! Did you win?"

"No, not that time. We lost, but then there was another war because L'manburg fell into the hands of Jschlatt and we had to get it back because he was evil. We won that war! And then I was put in charge, and I-" he paused, knowing what he did, "I also made of questionable decisions." The happy he felt drained from him as he thought. He's the one that exiled Tommy, is he the reason, Tommy's dead? Surely not, that's Dream's fault, but he wouldn't have been with Dream if it hadn't been for him choosing to exile his best friend.

"Well it looks like you turned it around because this place looks beautiful," the ghost exclaimed happily.

"Um...yeah," Tubbl nodded.

"I'm sorry, did I bring up bad memories? I didn't mean to, I'm sorry," Tubbo looked up at Tommy quizzically.

"No? It's not your fault, why are you apologizing?"

"I- oh, I don't know. It just, comes naturally I guess." Tubbo nodded, deciding not to dwell on it, and continues showing Tommy around their home.

Eventually they came to a stop infront  of the white house, Dream was standing there talking to Ghostbur.

Tubbo hated it when Dream was in L'Manburg. Though there was no proof, most knew it was him who killed Tommy. He hadn't drowned like Dream claimed.

"Hello!" Tommy waved to the two before Tubbo could stop him. Dream turned to them, his lips curving into a small smirk as he saw the ghost. "I'm Tommy!"

"Hello, Tommy," the voice sent a shiver down the ghosts non-existent spine, but recognition flashed in his eyes.

"Wait!" He shouted excitedly, "you're Dream! You're my best friend!"

Tubbo's mouth fell open, his world shattering. "What did you do?" He growled to Dream, both ghosts next to them let out a small 'oh.'

"What do you mean, Tubbo?"

"WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM!" He shouted, the fury seeping into every bit of him.

"I didn't do anything, he's my best friend, you heard him."

"Did I do something?" Tommy whispered to the ghost next to him, he couldn't remember his name.

"I don't think so..." the other replied, not sure as to why the president was shouting.

"Dream you broke him! You drowned him after you got him to believe you were there for him!"

"Sure, I did that. But no one else knows. No one else will ever know. Tommy can't remember, no one will believe a grieving boy, so I can admit to you I did do that." He pointed at Tommy with a sick grin, "I did that to him and I'm not sorry, because now I have control. Control over you, over L'Manburg, all of it. Because you can end up the same as him, and you're scared of that. You don't want to be schlatt."

Tubbo suddenly recalled what Wilbur had once said, and decided to change it up a bit, "you know what's dangerous about a grieving man?" Dream gave an un-amused frown, "he's got nothing left to lose."

Another au I found on tik tok! It's late and I'm tired so this isn't the best quality, just something I half thought about as I wrote.
