the next morning, max showed up at el's house after school with two pregnancy tests. thankfully hopper wouldn't be home for a few hours.
"you just pee in the stick el! it's not that hard!" max shouted through the bathroom door.
a confused el responded, "but it's not like i can aim! what am i supposed to do??"
after finally figuring it out, she opened the door. the girls stood in the bathroom and stared at the white stick for two minutes. and then, a line appeared.
two lines meant she was pregnant.
"only one line el! you're good! you're not pregnant!" max jumped up and down.
"max. max wait, look again." and there it was. a second line.
el burst into a panic. "i can't raise a child! i'm only 15! i know nothing about anything! i cant be a mother! i know nothing! i know nothing!!"
she paced around the house again and again. max tried her best to comfort her. "el, we'll all be here. you have hopper and joyce. and i'm sure mike will be a great father! and lucas has a little sister, he can help too! we're all going to support you el! you aren't alone!"
after a few hours, el decided to tell mike the next day.
the girls hid the positive test, they didn't know what would happen when hopper found out.
it was a friday, so max could sleep over. she wanted to be there for el.
as scared as max knew el was, she was sort of excited. a baby!
even though there were so young, she could totally see mike and el being perfect parents. and once hopper got over the fact that his 15 year old daughter was pregnant, he would be happy too.
she was sure it would all work out in the end. it always did for them, which says a lot, considering everything the group had been through.
if saving the world three times couldn't break up the group, nothing could.
