after the happy couple told the rest of the party about the coming baby, they began on a plan to tell hopper.

they knew hopper would never hurt el, but he might hurt mike if they weren't careful. they came up with a plan they figured would be the best for mike's safety, and the two walked to el's house, which was no longer a cabin, but a larger house a few blocks from mike's.

when they walked through the door, hopper was having lunch.

"hey kids, whatcha doing here?" he looked up from his sandwich and asked.

mike felt like he was going to puke, he wanted to leave, but el grabbed his hand.

"we need to talk to you, it's important." el said calmly before sitting down at the table and pulling mike along. he sat in the chair next to her.

"did he ask you to marry him? no way, it's too early!" he laughed and the kids did the best to laugh along.

"no..." el said nervously. "i'm going to tell you something, but you have to promise not to say anything until i explain, ok?"

hopper was weary now, "ok...?" el looked at him with intensity, and also, fear. "promise?"

"i promise kid." hopper leaned back in his chair and prepared himself for the worst.

"remember, don't say anything until i finish." el pulled the pregnancy test out of her pocket snd held it under the table.

"one day, when mike was over, we were watching a movie and i started kissing him. mike didn't do anything. i lead him to my room and told him i wanted to...to do it."

hopper's face got red, but he did his best not to say anything.

"mike asked a million times if i was sure, and i kept saying yes. i wanted too, i asked, not mike. we used protection and mike treated me so well, he made sure never to hurt me..."

her voice shook before pulling out the test.

"but...it wasn't enough" she whispered placing the test in between her and hop.

"you-you can talk now."

hop sat there for a minute, staring at the test before him. he finally lifted his head and looked at mike. then el. then mike again.

he didn't yell, he didn't scream, he didn't even raise his voice.

it was much, much worse. el could feel it. he was so, so disappointed in her.

he had trusted her to be careful, he let mike come over all the time when no one else was home, he trusted them.

el knew he was disappointed.

tears started flowing down el's face, and mike squeezed her hand under the table.

"have you thought about this at all." hopper asked calmly. "do you want to keep it?"

el looked up, "i-i don't know. we haven't really thought about it, we wanted to tell you first."

"how long have you known" his voice cracked a little this time. "two days." whispered el, embarrassed.

"mike, just leave. el go to your room. i need to think."

mike got up and didn't dare kiss el goodbye. he just gave her hand a quick squeeze walked out and got in his bike.

he didn't know how to feel. he was sick to his stomach, knowing hopper could stop him from seeing el, but also excited at the idea of being a father, even though he was still just a kid.
