I got out of my bathroom and picked the red dress which was on my bed. I was still not sure if I should really put on that dress. Well, I am not so good when it comes to making decisions. I always end up making the wrong decisions like the time I decided to date Olivier and he ended up breaking my heart. I took a long sigh and picked up another dress which was green. I looked at myself in the mirror and kept debating on what dress I should really put on before going to work.

My phone which was on the dressing table vibrated and I saw the time. Shoot! It was almost 8am. I ended up putting on the red dress. I brushed my curls and applied some mascara. I wore my black heels and took my car keys from the nightstand then left my room.

I went to the kitchen and took some coffee then rushed to my car. The drive from my house to the place I was working wasn't that far. I am a publisher for Belleza Magazine. I work at Hillwood Publishing House. I enjoy my work because it was my dream to work at Hillwood Publishing House since I was growing up. I parked my car at the parking lot and walked to my office. Many people gave me polite smiles as I took the elevator to the 4th floor. I got out of the elevator and went to my office. Brooklyn was already in.

Brooklyn is an intern who volunteers at the publishing house as my assistant. She has been volunteering here for a year now. Well, I really like her because she is so good at everything you tell her to do and we have become really close. I can say she is my best friend now and I really enjoy her company and energy. We share the office but she has her own desk.

"Hey Brooklyn, what time did you get here?" I asked her after entering the office. She looked at me and smiled then said "Hey love, well...just a few minutes ago." I pulled out my chair and sat behind my desk. I had a story to submit to my boss and I hadn't come up with anything so far. I was really stressed out about it.

"So....how was your date last night?" She suddenly asked me. "Uh...it was okay." I told her honestly. She looked at me with a surprised face. "Just okay?" She asked. I gave her a small nod and kept looking for my notebook. Shoot! I think I forgot it at home. "But I thought you said Ethan was hot." She said.

"Yup, he was hot but there was no chemistry between us." I said. "Ooh, okay." She said that and continued typing something on her laptop. "Have you seen my notebook anywhere?" I asked her. She shook her head as a "no" and kept typing. I took a deep breath and opened my laptop. I thought of what to write but I couldn't come up with anything.

"Genesis, is everything alright?" Brooklyn asked me. I looked at her and whispered a "no". "What is it? You know you can talk to me." She told me politely. Brooklyn is such a sweet person. I am so glad she came into my life. I am this kind of a person who is always so worried about everything that is supposed to happen with me. So, Brooklyn is always there to cheer me up when I feel sad or give me courage when I feel like giving up on anything.

"I haven't come up with a story for Quinn." I told her sadly. She gave me this sweet smile and said "Well, this weekend I tried to come up with something." She took her laptop to give me and said "Uh...here, try to look at it. Maybe you can get a story out of there." I took the laptop from her hands and tried reading whatever she came up with. Just the title was breathtaking. I continued reading the rest of the story and it was the exact thing the people would want to read. I looked at her with a wide grin and said "Wow! Brooklyn, this is perfect." She smiled back.

"Please can I take this to Quinn?" I asked her. She gave me a nod then said "Yeah, just take it to her." "Brooklyn you don't know how much I am thankful for you." I blew her a kiss and went to Quinn's office. When I gave Quinn the story to read she was blown up with it. "Genesis, this is what I have always been looking for. Great job!" She said with a wide smile on her face. I have never seen Quinn smile like that.

I took a deep breath and said "Well, I did not write that." I just couldn't take credit for the work that was not mine. She looked at me with a shocked face and asked "What do you mean?"

"I did not write the story." I told her politely. She looked confused. "Then who wrote it?" She asked. "Brooklyn wrote it." I said. She leaned back in her chair and took a long sigh. "Wow! I never thought she could write like this." She said. "Ma'am, Brooklyn is really good. I think you should give her a chance and see what she is capable of." I told her. She looked at me like she was thinking of something then Suddenly she said "Alright, let her publish this one story and let us see how people will react to it."

I was beyond happy. Finally Brooklyn gets to publish her own story on Belleza. I can't wait to break the news to her. "Thank you so much ma'am! You won't regret giving Brooklyn a chance. Trust me!" I told her excitedly. She dismissed me and I went back to my office.

"So, how did it go? What did she say about the story? Did she like it?" Brooklyn asked me a series of questions when I got back. I smiled at her and said "The story can be published.... but under your name." She looked so surprised. "Really? Are you serious?" She asked. "Yes! I am damn serious." I told her and she was so happy. She moved from her desk and came to me then pulled me into a tight hug. "Thank you so much Genesis!" I hugged her and smiled, "You're welcome sweetie."

The rest of the day I let Brooklyn publish her story while I was doing some digging for another big story. During lunchtime Brooklyn insisted on buying me lunch as a thank you for whatever happened in the morning. "You really don't have to do it hun." I told her but she insisted so I let her buy me lunch. We went to a bistro that was opposite our office. I had a chicken salad and Brooklyn had chicken with bacon mustard sauce.

"You know Brooklyn, I am so scared. Most of my friends from university are getting married and some have kids already but I am 30 years old and still single. Do you think I will get someone to love me?" I suddenly asked her when we were eating. She looked at me and said "Of course! You'll get someone to love you. Genesis, you just don't know how beautiful you are. I am sure one day you'll get that someone special."

"But when? Soon I will be turning 31 then I will go to 32 and-"

"Girl, just be patient. Good things do not need rushing. And who knows? Maybe you'll get that someone special from the dates you are going to." She cut me off before I finished whatever I wanted to say. I gave her a sad look and kept eating my salad. "How many dates have you been to so far?" She asked me. "Er...I guess five." I told her and she looked a bit shocked. "And you haven't found any person?" She asked. I took a long sigh and said "Yeah."

"Well, your man is on his way." She told me. I don't think I will get a man to love me just the way I am. "So, how's Logan?" I asked her just to stop myself from thinking about my sad unromantic life. "He is really good. This coming weekend I will be meeting his parents." She told me with a beautiful smile plastered on her face. She looked so in love.

"Wow! I am so happy for you. I guess soon we will hear the wedding bells." I told her jokingly but I meant it. She laughed and said "Nooooo, it's too soon for us to get married." I laughed and took a sip of my water. We went back to the office and continued with work. Time passed really quick and soon it was time to leave the office.

"Well, I am done for the day. I will see you tomorrow." I told Brooklyn as I packed my things. "Okay. I am still here for an hour. All the best on your date tonight." She told me that and I smiled politely at her. "Thank you, love." I told her and left. I got home, took a rest and started preparing myself for the blind date. Tonight I was meeting Owen. I hope everything goes well.
