- 2 months later: The Home in Bloom, 9.08 am-
As she breathed in the fresh morning wind, the sun warmed her shoulders. A delightful feeling settled in every tired but peaceful little cell of her body. For yes, it was finally over. Or let's say, it was finally going to start.
Nicole wiped her sweaty forehead with a sponge bracelet and ran ahead, her wireless headphones in her ears blocking out the chirping birds among the trees. Her long red hair was tied up in a ponytail beneath her black cap. Simply dressed in a black and white sports bra and shorts, she grinned when she saw her house.
Lastly, she stopped at her mailbox and slipped the envelopes under one arm, also stopping the timer on her wrist.
"Five minutes left. Good shape, Haught."
Nicole cheerfully trotted to her porch and put everything on a rocking chair before she began her stretching. Completely cut off from the world by the music in her ears and the thoughts running through her head, she focused on the motions of her body.
She didn't see a small freckled nose pressing on the windowpane in her back. Bright, hazel eyes with a drop of violet in the spring sunshine, staring wide open. With her mouth curved into a smile, Julia watched her mother attentively. Then a faint thump of bare feet was heard on the floor and the door swung open,
"Mama! You're back! You're back!"
Julia exclaimed, tiptoeing up and spreading her arms for her mother to embrace her. Which she obviously did, twirling her in the air, unleashing an outburst of giggling she loved more than anything.
When she caught her breath, Nicole giggled lightly at the paint all over her daughter's skin,
"Waw, beautiful rainbow makeup Jules, I love it..."
"Nooo Mama, I'm making marp with Mama Waves"
Nicole raised her eyebrow "Marp?"
"Harp" Julia nodded, confident she got it right but her mama smiled cheekily when she understood,
"You're building a harp? Good job baby"
Julia leapt out of the embrace and landed with her arms folded, she stamped her foot on the ground,
"ARC!"
Nicole bit her bottom lip hard not to smile since she knew the frustrated hazel eyes so well,
"Like this?" "
"NOOOoo, Mama!"
"What? I'm arching my eyebrows, look"
Finally interested, the girl's eyes lit up,
"OH, can you wiggle 'em? Because Mama Waves, she can"
"Your mama is indeed, wonderfully talented." Nicole nodded grabbing all the things she had put on the rocking chair before turning to her daughter,
"Yeah. So.."
"So...What were you making?"
"ART!" Julia finally exclaimed and Nicole grinned proudly,
"OOh, Can I come up to see the exhibition?"
"Not yet! I'll make a unicorn card to invite you, but now I have to paint sooo many things...bye momma!" And like that, Julia had opened the front door and reached the first step of the stairs,
"Sure! And Jules, call me if you need to draw trees, I'm pretty good at that-"
The freckled little girl waved one last time "I wiiiill, bye now." and she ran upstairs.
