The morning sun beat down on us,it was cold winter morning. I pulled my scarf closer to me in fear of catching a cold. We followed behind Emma who held a compass in her hand. Large trees were spread out in front of us,insects flew by in a hurry and flowers and plants bloomed. "They're huge!" Don comments at the trees. Everyone seemed to be in aw at the large trees,it was like it came out of fairytale. I noticed that Ray had stopped walking,he seemed deep in thought. I walked up to the boy and hit his arm causing him to jump slightly and look at me. "Stop being so sad,you should be happy we're out of that h*ll." Ray didn't respond and simply nodded. "Come on." I say gesturing him to keep walking. "Make sure to be careful!" Emma exclaims helping a few of the younger kids.

We had finally found a clearing in the forest. "Alright everyone! We'll stop here and have breakfast!" Everyone cheered"we won't want to eat to much. We have to save our food supplies." Gilda tells the younger kids"Emma! Aren't you going to eat with us?!" Chris asks running up to Emma. I felt Ray rug on my hand as drug me over to the giant tree. We all said our blessings and got to eating. Well,almost everyone. I wasn't that hungry so I didn't eat. "Y/N,you need to eat." Ray says next to me"I'm not hungry." I simply answer"but you need your stamina." I nod"I'm aware. Maybe later." Ray seemed skeptical but knew I wasn't going to eat until I was starving. Ray sighed and bit down on his bread.

I turned to look at Emma who was looking around,clearly on guard. "She doesn't seem well." I say to Ray"yea..."he trails off finishing his bread and taking out a jar of water. Once doing so he stands up and offer me a hand,I take hold of it and he takes me over to Emma. "Heyo." Ray greets the ginger causing her to jump"'heyo'?!" I lightly hit Ray"don't worry Emma,we're not being attacked." I tell her as she sighs. "There seems to be no wild predators in the area. I couldn't find any droppings or footprints,tracks are helpful like in tag." Ray then extends his hand that holds the jar"you should go rest. We'll take your place." Emma nods with a 'thank you' and grabs the jar,opens her bag,prays for her meal and then eats. Ray turns around"I'm sorry." He suddenly says"hm?" Emma hums,her mouth full of bread.

"If I was apart of the plan from the start maybe you wouldn't have had to hurt your hand or ear." Ray seemed genuinely guilty over this. Emma smiles brightly"don't worry about it! I'm happy as long as you're alive and well!" Ray stays silent,clearly not knowing how to respond to that. "I talked with Anna not to long ago." He says changing the subject. "But her response was: 'more importantly Happy Birthday'...I can't believe that I was willing to leave them behind. Everyone is so nice to me..."he then turns around"I'm going to live. I'm going to live and protect my family. I am going to protect every single one. This time,no matter what happens I won't cut them off."

Emma smiles and looks to the others"you're not alone Emma. We're all here for you." She nods"I-I think I am going to join them." I wave her goodbye and then start to panic. "I forgot it was your birthday Ray!" I say jumping at the black haired male"I don't even have a present for you! Usually I would've made you something and I don't have anything. I feel so awful,please forgive me!" I say with a bow"eh...?! Y-Y/N..."he seemed in shock at my words"idiot." He simply says"stop being so down. You said it yourself: 'be happy we're out of that h*ll'. So cheer up." I stand up straight"you're right..."I trail off. "I swear I'll give you a gift very soon." He shakes his head"you're so weird." He buffs as I cross my arms"no,you!" He then smiles softly"I like when you smile." I admit"h-huh?!" I see his cheeks turn a shade darker,maybe he was blushing or it was the cold nipping at him? Guess I'll never know. "Yes. I like when you smile. It makes me happy. And you deserve to be happy."

"Happiness,huh...?" He frowns"oh and Ray?" He hums"were you planning to actually do a double suicide?" He shrugged"I was going through a internal battle. I was ready for us to both die,I mean you probably would get yourself killed if I wasn't there. But then I remembered that you should be able to live a half way normal life." I bit my lip"but if you went through with it,nothing would've been normal. Ray,you've made such a big impact in my life." I say feeling my cheeks heat up"I would probably grieved myself to death if anything happened to you."

I glance over to the taller boy,his green eye(s) stare into mine. "I'm glad you're here with me." He nods"I'm glad you're here with me to." I then quickly hug him and pull away as I hear Emma yell"come on lovebirds! We have to get moving!" I felt my cheeks burn even more"EMMA!" I scream chasing after the girl as she lets out a laugh.

We followed Emma deeper into the forest. "So where to now?" I ask looking at the ginger"we need to find water first. When we first left the house,I saw a stream above. I'd like to go there and see if the water is pure." Ray nods"I've read that humans can only last three days without water. It's definitely our top priority. We might be able to find some food as well." Emma looks down at the compass"and after that?" I hum"do you have a plan of where we should head? Or are we just wandering?" Emma shakes her head and stuffs the compass into her pocket. She slings we bag to one side and takes out a black and grey pen.

"We'll be heading south. We have to meet Mr.Minerva at B06-32." She tells us"and then pen?" Ray questions"sister Krone gave that to Norman." Ray then twists the top off to reveal a normal pen"seems normal to me." Emma nods"do the other end." He slides the cap back on and it reveals B06-32,the place Emma told us. "Now twist it once more." Ray does so and then a projector appears.

It was clearly Minerva's,it had the familiar owl,a location and Morse code. Ray and I were both taken back by this. "What the..."Ray trails off.

"LANI?!" This broke us out of our surprised expressions. Ray closed the pen and shoved it into his pocket and we took off to Thoma who was looking around in a panic. "Thoma,what's wrong?!" I yell"Lani disappeared!" Thoma yells"w-what's going on?! Was he attacked?! Or did he get lost?!" Emma asks grabbing a hold of the boys shoulders. "No! No! No! He suddenly disappeared! We were walking together until a few seconds ago,but just now when I looked,he was gone." Thoma then pulls away from Emma and looks around in a frenzy.

"LANI! QUIT PLAYING GAMES!"

"LANI! ANSWER US IF YOU CAN HEAR US!"

"Ray,I'm going to look for h-"Emma was then cut off by Ray"this is weird. Something isn't right." I glanced around"it's oddly quiet." Ray nods at my comment"why isn't anyone responding?!" Ray then takes off and we follow behind him. He suddenly stops and looks around. "Everyone's gone..."I say in shock.

Suddenly the ground gave out from under us. Ray grabbed my hand and brought me into him. "R-Ray?!" I stutter out.

The next thing I saw was darkness.
