YOUR POV:

Emma,Ray and I followed Lewis outside as we continued to shoot at him. Suddenly a loud crash was heard followed by smoke,we stopped in our steps. "It's Adam." I comment"someone brought him here." I muttered looking around"did he just throw a house?" Ray questions"ADAM! GO! BLOW THAT MONSTER AWAY!" My eyes widened as I saw Violet behind him. Adam punched Lewis and sent him flying. "THIS IS OUR CHANCE! EVERYONE TAKE HIM!" Mister screams from the roof.

We all then fired at Lewis.

"Y/N! What's the status on the flash grenades?" Violet asks approaching me"we used it,the effects wear off easily though. We just need to wear him down though." Violet nods"ADAM! KEEP THROWING!" Adam continued to throw things while we fired. I took a flash bomb and threw it at him to throw off his senses once more. This was our final chance at beat him,we couldn't waste this. "Pay attention! Aren't you endangering two of your own?!" Lewis yells as a pillar heads for Violet and Nigel.

Lewis was able to knock Adam back and hard,just enough to throw him at the building the man was on. "Mister!" Emma yells looking at the man,he was hanging onto the tile shingles. "Continue to fire!" Ray yells.

That's when it all went in slow motion,time had seemed to stop. It happened so quick as well. I looked down to see demon claws in my stomach,my eyes widened as I coughed up blood. "What a shame. You're time is up." Lewis purrs. He pulls out his claws and I fall to the ground.

The last thing I heard was Ray screaming my name,as if he was being murdered right now. My eyes fluttered close and my vision grew dark.

Why me?

It's always me.

I've been nothing but kind my whole life,what did I do to deserve such a punishment?

I just wanted to protect everyone,in the end I couldn't even protect myself. Pathetic.

My body felt heavy as if I was underwater,it was hot as well. It was a suffocating feeling. I just wanted to swim up to the surface and get away from this feeling,but there was no escape.

This was my fate.

"Y/N,wake up."

'Ray?' I thought to myself"hey,get up."

A bright light flashed before me,my eyes opened and the suffocating feeling was gone,though my body was still heavy and hot. In front of me was Ray's tree,Ray sat underneath it along with my younger self. A book was placed on the ground next him,my eyes looked around for Grace Field or any other children,yet it was just us. "Get up!" Ray screams irritated as he shoves me. "Rayyy." Y/N whines"I don't want to...you're comfy." Past Y/N compliments. Ray's eye(s) narrow he shoves me off of him,my body tumbles to the ground as Ray sighs. "Hey! That hurt!" She yells at him"you could've just gotten up."

We seemed to be around the age of 8 or 9 here.

Y/N crossed her arms"mean." Ray picks up his book and opens it to the last page he was on. "Hey Ray,do you think we'll ever leave here?" His body went stiff"w-what?" Y/N nods"I mean like...uh...being adopted." She covers up"Probably." He closes his book,clearly knowing where this is going. "We all get adopted at 12 whether we like it or not." He answers as Y/N nods,a sad expression on her face. "What do you think the outside is like?" She continued to ask. "Hm...probably scary."

"Yea...probably..."

"Why are you suddenly asking these questions?" He asks with a glance"oh,I was just thinking about it since Emily just got sh-adopted yesterday." He nods at Y/N's answer. That's when Emma's voice rang through but she was no where to be seen. "Y/N! Come play with us!" Y/N nods and rushes off,waving goodbye to Ray and then disappearing.

Ray looks to me,startling me. "Yo." He answers"R-Ray? H-How are you seeing me?" I asked"this is your imagination idiot." He then gestures me to sit next to him"your mind just conjured me up is all." I walk over and sit down next to him. "You shouldn't be here." He tells me"why not?" I hum"you can't die yet. You haven't made it outside."

"Are you telling me this or is my brain telling me this?" He shrugs"you'll never know." I glare at him slightly"if you wish to know where you are,your in between life and death-a middle ground almost." He tells me"so then,I'm fading in and out of consciousness?"

"Not really. You're body is there in the real world,just barely breathing. You're still alive though. I guess you could call this the 'waiting room' between heaven and h*ll." Ray sighs"so then you must know what's going on outside?" He shakes his head"nope. I only know as much as you know."

"But then how'd you know I was 'in between'?"

"Easy. If you listen carefully,you can hear your feint heartbeat." He answers. I got quiet and listened as I softly heard a heart beat,it was faint like it was far away. "I hear it." I tell him"do you know when I'll wake up?...oh right,you're inside my mind." Ray runs a hand through his hair"you need to tell him you like him." He suddenly says changing the subject. "But what if he hates me?" I asked"he doesn't and we wouldn't. You know deep down he feels the same,just stop doubting it. He likes you and that's that."

"But you're what I want to hear." I grumble"I suppose I am in a way." I sigh"I'm so stupid. I just had to go and play hero,huh?" He smirks"seems like you." I cross my arms"shut up!"

"N/N..."my eyes widened"is that real Ray?" He nods"seems our time is almost up here." I have a confused look"why am I hearing him?" He stands up with his book in hand"it seems they were able to save you." That's when I heard the heartbeat get louder. "I guess so..."I stand up"how do I leave?" He takes out his pocket watch and hands it to me. "Take this. It'll help you return." I take it and that's my vision fades to black as Ray waves me goodbye.
