This is gonna be one hell of a long chapter so get ready...
La Havre, Palace - 7:16
Millie's Bedroom.
Already dressed and bathed, she was admiring her golden damp hair while brushing it. The morning was colder than usual and the roads had frosted but it still didn't stop her parents sending her to school, after the mess she just pulled yesterday evening. She dropped the biggest and most mind blowing bomb on her parents, and it had been so unexpected so they didn't know what to think of it. The news came so quickly and they hadn't had time to process it that evening but now it was well processed and well thought about.
Her clock rang 7:20AM as she rushed to turn it off. She swung open the walking closet doors, trying to find her blazer, through the dozens of school t-shirts and skirts and two pairs of trousers. But she couldn't find her blazer as she only had one. She got frustrated, and stormed out the closet only to see, Finn entering her room, propping up the blazer on her vanity chair. She rolled her eyes before giving him a hug.
"I was looking for that! When did you take and why would you want me to be late?!" She threw on the blazer, fixing her skirt up and looking back at Finn. He smirked and said,
"Because, I thought it'd be nice. I ironed it and even if you were late, you'd get to spend more time with me," he sat in the vanity chair as Millie started to play with his curls of hair.
"Well...Since you met my parents at a very confronting confrontation, I thought it would be nice if I met your parents. Hopefully they're not as annoying as you," She smiled at his chuckle.
"Yeah, you can meet my papa but there's no chance of you finding my mère." Millie looked at him from the mirror confused as she started to brush out his hair which turned into volumed wild curls. "My mom left us after I was born. I guess he couldn't take being judged upon all the time and so, she left us. Maybe for some rich guy..." He tried to smile but you could tell from his eyes that he was hurting and in pain from what happened at a young age. He felt numb and emotionless, like the life had been drained out from him. But he winced at the pain when Millie pulled the brush through his hair.
"Jesus, Finn! Do you ever brush your hair at all? There's so many knots and tangles!" She replied with tearing the comb through his hair roughly.
"Okay okay!" He slipped out from the chair, removing the hairbrush from Millie's clutch. "I think I've been tortured enough, thank you."
"This day is going to be fuull of torture, Finn. I was just preparing you!"
"I think Millie, you will push through those suitors, like a breeze! Scare them away with that beautiful charm of yours, okay?" She chuckled sweetly. "And uh...about some Prom, you mentioned last night..."
"Yeah what about it?" She looked down at the mention and faced back towards the mirror, fishing some hair bands."Were you Millie Bobby Brown, asking me to prom?" Finn said in a low soft voice, seizing her attention. It made butterflies in her stomach, swarm the inside of her as she bit her lip trying to hide her grin of excitement but still didn't face him as she was too nervous. She didn't even answer back as her voice almost felt taken away. He slowly tucked a hair, behind her ear.
"No...I was just saying it to make my mère shut up..." She could tell he was peering at her with a certain look in his eye, through the mirror but she only saw out the corner of eye as she was facing the other way trying to cover up her smile.
"Tu fais trop d'efforts pour couvrir ton beau sourire quand tu mens..." He smiled into her ear, Nuzzling his nose in her golden locks of hair making her spine shiver and knees feel weak.
"If you're trying to seduce me into a kiss, it's not working Wolfhard. Just ask," This time, she faced him, putting her arms around his neck as he propped his arms onto the vanity, almost trapping her in the same position.
"May I kiss, thee Millie Bobby Brown?" He smirked at her this time and she grinned back as she pressed her lips against his. His lips were soft like butter against hers and tasted the faint taste of mint, came from his breath. Their lips only parted from short breaths of air, only kiss each other, intensely and breathlessly again until Millie put a hand against his cheek, pulling away. They were both still smiling when they pulled away.
"Maybe I was asking you to prom. I want you to be the first person I go with. And Sadie of course, cause she's like my best friend," He let go of the hold around her waist as she backed away slowly.
"Well yeah, who'd want to ditch their friend for a handsome and charming young beautiful and pretty boy?"
"Yeah, you're pushing your luck too much." She raised a brow at him as he sat down at the bed, then fell back, laying down on it.
"What, so you sleep on a mattress made out of clouds now?" Millie came over to him, putting her head of his, Making it look like a rainfall of hair for Finn. "Since we are in a relationship now...We should be getting to know one each other."
"But isn't that for dates and stuff? Or what would you talk about on a date?" Millie sat up and so did Finn.
"So then, consider this as our first date. Imagine we're on a sunny beach, somewhere hot and sunny."
"Miami Beach in Florida. Me and my family used to go there a lot, but then we just stopped...I don't remember much but I always remembered the beaches."
"Florida? Did you get to go Disney land?" He beamed like a little kid again.
"Disney Land?" She chuckled. "Yes...for my twelfth birthday and my dad and brother came with me. Then at night we saw a private firework show and it was so colourful and pretty. But it was so loud!"
"For my twelfth birthday, me and my sister tried baking a cake but we didn't know how to use a oven so we put it in the microwave. It was working but then we put wayyy to much baking powder and it exploded in the microwave," He laughed softly.
"Please tell me you know how to use an oven now! Or I will personally teach you how to cook,"
"I'm practicing! I'm still learning, I can barely get it on half the time..." She pursed her lips trying to hide a smile while Finn hid away his embarrassed face. "Enough about my non existent cooking skill, more about you. What...What job do you want to have when you're older?" He looked up at her this time and she broke eye contact, looked down at her shoes.
"I...I don't know. I've never thought of it because, I've come to realisation that I won't be able to get a job as a royal."
"Well screw the rules for now, and pretend you were a middle class who was going to university. For example,a marketing executive would be a cool job because I get to help people grow in their businesses and other things."
"But I don't like being told what to do, that's boring. I would like to have my own rules and have things done my way."
"Maybe you'd be a ...Producer!" He clicked his fingers in the snap of the idea but Millie said nothing and stared at him blankly. "You basically organise people to resources involved in marketing and distribution in the tv and film industry. It's a great job really."
"So I make, advertisement to put on the telly?" He nodded at her and she laid back down facing her head up.
"You wouldn't have someone telling you what to do either, you just think what's best for whatever you're producing." He laid on his side, facing Millie. "Or you could be a therapist or advice worker. I know a lot of jobs since my sister makes me read all these magazines." She smiled at him and turned towards him.
"What exactly does an advice worker do?"
"They tell people what do. Literally. If they have problems they come to an advice worker and they tell them what to do, people come to them for debt issues, employment, housing but-"
"It sounds OK...though I dont like the sound of debt issues or anything like that. Anything else?" He bit his lip and thought hard until an idea came to him.
"There's this really similar job... I think it's being a counsellor and you just try and help people in positive ways. Give them advice basically, almost like a therapist but you're just saying what's best for them."
"I think I would be to aggressive at the job." She sighed, but Finn looked at her with a smile.
"I was just about to say that," he flopped back to the bed as they continued in their discussion.
"I might need to borrow a few of your sisters magazines." She sighed.
"I don't think she'll mind, as long as you stay for another hour so she can turn you into a doll." Millie sputtered out a laugh and turned her head to the side, peering at him with a small grin,
"Doll? She'd dress you up-"
"Not even, she'd get her makeup samples and put them on me for hours! And the stuff was so bad, It would take hours to scrub off then when I did get it off, I would look like I was sunburnt for the rest of the day." She burst out laughing to see Finn smiling at her expression before looking up.
"I remember playing with my mères lipstick and smearing it all over my face." She said with a small smile growing on her face. There was a pause of silence before Finn interrupted,
"I know this sounds stupid to ask but, what do you wanna do in life...Like your aspirations, your dreams or goals." He bit his lip waiting for an answer that he never got.
"I've never thought of it. I feel like, I'm happy the way things are. It could be better but I'm a royal and I have everything I want. I- I mean, I'm rich and have rich parents and a perfect family with my brother and sister. Things are fake as hell but, i still got something." Finn wandered his gaze towards somewhere else but it stuck back on her when she said, "And I have you, Finn." His blank expression, soon curved into a smile. "I don't know, you should make up a goal for me."
"My goal for you is to get a job." He turned towards her and she frowned. Thinking he was kidding at first but he stayed silent.
"That would be outrageous. Mère would never want me to get a job."
"Stop thinking about your parents and what you want. What do you want, Millie?" He moved his head into a more comfortable position as he leaned in closer to her. She took her hand and placed it, slightly on his cheek, tapping her index finger lightly as she did so.
"I wanna leave France. Go somewhere far away from this place and I don't wanna come back. I want to get a job and have a family, have four beautiful kids and marry someone. Someone I love." Her eyes lit up as Finn and Millie made deep eye contact. There was just something about that look that told him something. Something that she was craving.
